Comment: I LOVE your plague doctor - in fact, I got a boring clear phone case the day it arrived, and immediately stuck it in there - now my phone is well-decorated! I love your zine instructions, too. I seem to be unable to buy a printer that isn't complete crap, or else I'd try making zines. I've been through three printers in the past several years, and they've all pissed me off, lol. Thank you again!

Response: I recommend making a color photocopy of the original and preserving the drawing from wear and tear. ☺ ☺ Paper is fragile, and I put in 2 to 4 hours of work in each ATC. ♥ So glad you like it!

Response: Mimikyu wants to go Trick or Treat this year! The money is for burning at a Chinese fire festival so relatives can benefit. You can burn an imitation of something (like money) and it is still good. I guess the American Chinatown versions are a bit snarky or ironic. There are also sheets of rice paper with gold leaf on it for an upgrade or for the ancient ancestors, not sure of all the details except that it sends gold to the afterlife. Hopefully this means those in the afterlife do not have credit debt. :3

Response: They are in a specific, smaller tank at the aquarium and last time I was there, I noticed people walking past it. I stopped them and I was like "Have you SEEN THESE??" They were amazed. You have to look for them but one you spot one you can spot the rest. :3

Response: I belong to a local hackerspace / makerspace and we have two laser cutters. See if a college, library or makerspace is near you with one open to the public to use (with the right training.) Also, they are good for etching rubber for stamps. O>O You buy a particular kind of rubber for laser cutting. I probably should not have told you that... :d

Comment: Thanks for the cute goose! I have three pet geese that get excited when the Canadians fly over! They used to try to take off after them, ending up gliding down the road... I think they were feeling the urge to travel. They are pretty defensive of the yard. I can well imagine a big fierce flock of them being effective guards!

Response: Are they trying to migrate or defend their turf? A history teacher told me the ancient Romans used geese to guard their treasury for hundreds of years, and it was robbed right away when they switched to dogs. :D

Response: Ah, I did not know that design was a PC stamp because someone else sent it on an envelope and it did not get cancelled so I recycled it. ^^' I'm late to the party on any new designs for stamps because they are hard to get at my local post office. You go to the postal counter to buy stamps and are told there are none available, the staff is like where do you think you are? My post office is amazingly bad. Read the Yelp reviews for the Lawrence Avenue 60625 post office: it's pretty amusing for a catalog of human rage.

Response: I use the junk mail, free ad postcards or food box material to buffer the art from any tears, dents and dings. The damage gets absorbed by the packaging and not the art. :3 Chicago mail sorting machines pound through hundreds of thousands of pieces a shift and they are brutal!

Response: Sorry, it was not my top shelf work. I was driving out of state weekly for long shifts at the hospital to sit with my grandmother who went from a cancer diagnosis to death in six weeks. The whole family is a wreck, my mother and aunts were freaking out and the funeral was real hard. I have been crying a lot and barely got that postcard out the door. The folk out east point and laugh at us when our city gets shut down for 3 inches of snow. It takes a while for our 3 snowplows to get around you know.....

Response: Sorry, I don't know. :( There is no sign or anything near their aviary. There were two doves, a canary and different finches all mixed together. They are in a nursing care hospital. Probably the kind of finches you can buy at a pet store.

Response: Uh oh, that called "a foster failure" or also "a foster flunky" here in Illinois! ;D I was SOOO close to being a foster failure because the last kittens, my dogs LOVED the two so much! Five animals would be too much vet bills though. The PEPs [pointy eared puppies] went to the shelter adoption program.

Response: I get to as many shows as possible every year and usually all at AIC! â˜º If you have any remote interest in the subject, you would be amazed. I am going back soon. Manet's painting of Victorine Meurant in "Woman With Parrot" (she also being the same model in "Olympia") is right smack on the wall with a load of oblivious viewers streaming by it with little clue it is probably one of the most valuable paintings in terms of history the whole city this moment. Taken out of the context of Manet's life story it is put in a totally different context and it's being shown in a very superficial way. {Sorry, art geeking out! LOL} The whole gowns and all the accessories that went with them are on mannequins in huge glass cases, some on rotating bases, between the paintings of the same fashions. â˜º

Comment: i adore any roy lichtenstein print - thank you sooo much! i'm so glad the pc arrived in excellent condition :) and i had to laugh about ur comment about irish setters - when i got my baby she was a bit dim/always hitting her head on something and then she ate my couch! but she's gotten so much better thanks to my lab keeping her straight! he's my bright sun! lol! and he loves to be vacuumed - but only by his daddy...daddy can do no wrong to him! it's funny but it helps with his shedding! anyway, thanks again for the great post - made my day!

Comment: Thanks for the postcard. I'm not sure if the Stevens Hotel still exists. The Zines are cool too.

Response: It collapsed shortly after it's opening in 1927 because of the Great Depression. The building was bought by the government for use in WWII, eventually became the Hilton on South Michigan Avenue. Read the Wikipedia for the Stevens Hotel; it had a wild history!

We don't own a dog, but on Saturday we went to a PetSmart adoption fair and nearly bought a cute 3 year old white poodle. It almost looks like a guitar neck - don't know if that's the effect you were after but very fitting for me, none the less. And, the card you sent is divine - poor Hoss, what a face! Being the owner of a rescue doggie, his story touched my heart strings and I gave my doggie an extra hug! I may need to see it, I did two expansive series of Recursive Icons [rose and black] of visual artists and musicians. No one gets Ansel Adams, no one is used to seeing him, just his work! O'Keeffe, Adams, Stieglitz were all friends along with John Marin. â™¥ Stieglitz launched Adams career.

Response: I strive for great every time. â˜º The thick board is a sports card "decoy". I get them off my boyfriend and two baseball card shops. People rummage boxes of cards looking for autographs, patches and game jersey cards. The sports card industry started putting the blank decoys in the packs so that collectors could no longer cherry pick the valuable packs. I LOVE mounting my painted cards on the decoys. Also, they are rigid enough that I can use a light to heavy varnish on painted cards [no flexibility = no future cracking in the varnish]. â˜º

Response: YAY! I try to read profiles every time. â™¥ I grew up looking at a lot of old hand-colored photographs, so I came up with a four step process to imitate the antique photos. People hand colored a lot before there was color photography and a lot of the time it was a job that went to women. â˜º

Response: I use it as a template to view find areas of photos, patterned paper, magazine pages, etc. I place the clear piece and trace around the outside and cut out the section I want for ATCs. :)

I mummified the frame in the box with all that tape and wrapping. 8D The shell is from Montrose Beach, Chicago. So now you have a piece of Lake Michigan! Here is how the background was partially made. Response: I scanned 300 dpi resolution and printed the detail on a professional photo printer. I put on gold paint on the wand! â™¥ The original is really nice. If you know how to handle res and have good printing, you avoid banding and pixelation. I'm totally loving learning digital. :D
