UPDATE: 7/9/2021 I cancelled a bunch of my washi strip postcard swaps because there doesn't seem to be enough interest. Maybe I'm hosting too much of these lately, I'll try again in the fall.
UPDATE: March 2020 I just got back to swap-bot after over 2 years of inactivity due to family issues. I sent all my swaps before I had the break, and rated all swaps I've received.
2017 Hello, My name is Pei. I recently moved back to the US after living in Norway for a few years. I used postcrossing while living in Norway to avoid going home to an empty mail boxe, and I collected a lot of postcards on the way. I joined Swap-bot because there was a Lantern Press postcard swap at the time, but I recently grew fond of the ATC swaps.
Aside from postcards, I also have a huge collection of washi tapes (around 1200 rolls), but there's always new ones popping up, so I'm thinking about collecting washi tape samples too.
I like making swatch postcards like these because they are not time consuming and shows the beautiful of tapes without much alteration. I'm open to private swaps of if you have interesting tapes that you like to share on postcards. I prefer to swap in themes, I've hosted a few swaps, you can check out to see what I mean.
Other hobbies I have are:
-decorating my to be sent postcards,
-I keep a planner/diary of a sort, but my friends call it an artbook, because I include my doodles, photos, and washitape/sticker decoration with the entries :P I love spending time on my book !
-Although I don't have much time for it anymore, I love cross-stitching! my favorite patterns are from a Korean brand called SODA
I am open to most music (although I don't really understand acid rock) depending on my mood. My current favorite song is a Japanese song "僕らの手には何もないけど" (There is nothing in our hands) by Ram Wire. I cry every time listening to it along with the cartoon MTV. They are sad but grateful tears. You can listen to it here
I grew up on the Harry Potter series, so it is one of my favorite series. Otherwise, I mostly enjoy mystery (not supernatural) novels.
I also like graphic novels, my favorite is "Detective Conan" (aka Case Closed), and Red River.
I also enjoy reading historical fictions and non-fictions from both Eastern and Western culture.
I mostly like action, comedy or a mix of both.
Series-wise, I like the Harry Potter Series, and LOTR and Hobbit series.
I also enjoy Disney movies, my favorite movies are Zootopia, Tangled, The Little Merimaid, and Beauty and the Beast (2017).
I love Elementary (watching it as I type) ! as well as: Criminal Minds(stopped watching the last 2 season though), Bones, well you get the idea :P
I also like watching anime. My favorites are:
Detective Conan(aka Case Closed),
Sailor Moon,
Hikaru no Go (Sai is my ultimate bias!),
Kamisama Kiss,
Fruits Basket,
Inuyasha,

I mainly collect/join these kinds of swaps:
*Paperclips: I recently grew really fond of paperclips! Be it store bought shaped paperclips or handmade altered paperclips (especially hidden ones), I love them! If you have an extra one, I'd love to add it to my collection.
*Postcards: https://www.flickr.com/photos/peipostcard/collections/72157672254190763/
*Washi tape samples:
=I have a bunch of washi, so I'm not too picky, but really not fond of thin ones.
=lately, I'm really fond of Taiwanese brands and Michaels washi (I don't buy Michaels because I don't like buying tapes in sets, They add too much to my collection in one go, but still like samples) tapes. Also, anything unique from your region would be great.
ATC:
UPDATE: June 2020 I'm trying out alcohol-based markers lately. I'm not great at it, but try to practice, so I'm doing a lot of HD/HP atcs lately. Also, really into making shakers at the moment, and still love using watercolor.
UPDATE: March 2020 I've tried a lot of different methods to make ATC cards. I was really into HD/HP before I had the break in 2017, but I am currently interested in making mix media collage, even though I still like doing watercolor atcs from time to time. Be reassured, I take my time in making all of my ATCs, and I hope to receive ATCs that you put your effort in as well.
July 2017 =I learned about ATC a few months ago. I'm trying out different methods and themes. I try my best to fit receiver's preference. I currently like to make HD/HP atcs using pen and watercolors, but I also like join swaps with new techniques. For embellishments I like using dried flowers from my garden, rhinestones, fabric, ribbon/lace, emboss powders, rubber stamps both store bought and hand-carved by myself in making ATC cards.
=my #1 favorites are carefully HD/HP ATCs
=if you are not a HD/HP artist, I like ATC made with effort. Please! NO old photo with people (ie paper dolls from Tim Holtz) they scare me, sorry T_T Anyway, I rate hearts according to how much effort you put into the ATC , not extra goodies.
=Dislike: I'm not fond of: - thin ATCs that can bend into a U, or sticker/photo/picture slapping. - old photos with people (ie paper dolls from Tim Holtz) scare me. - Scary themes ( I like Halloween, but not the gruesome kind)
=Please make your card something you'd like to receive yourself.
=please don't send me coffee, tea bags, or other edibles as extras.
=Note: please make sure you have sufficient postage on your envelope. I once had a swap that cause the mailman to come to my door to collect the owed postage. It was troublesome for me to find change on the spot and for him to come to my door (we don't have door to door delivery service).
