About Me

I'm a little quirky, a lot nerdy, and love all things books, cats, and crafts. I collect books, and have my own "library" room in my house with built-in bookshelves built especially for me. I love bright colors. I'm sort of a hippie, too. I recycle everything and am constantly inspired by the natural world. My cats are my children, and I'm always sort of adopting neighborhood cats (and other animals too). I'm all about compassion for other living things - I believe everything on the planet has just as much right to live and prosper as we do. I love starting new craft projects and learning new things. I like spending free afternoons browsing secondhand shops: thrift stores, yard sales, bookshops, etc. I'm endlessly fascinated by the things other people buy for themselves. I'm new to swapping, but already I can see I will enjoy this.

Favorite Music

Punk, blues, and jazz are my favorites. I'm all over the map though, and will try pretty much anything.

Favorite Books

Some of my favorite authors: Ian Rankin, Tom Robbins, F. Paul Wilson, Tom Piccirilli, Clive Barker. I'm a voracious reader, so I'm always picking up something new. I'm very open-minded, so unless its straight romance, I'll probably try it. My reading habits usually tend toward horror, crime/detective type, or thriller/suspense. I love ghost stories too.

Favorite Crafts

Knitting, jewelry crafting, and sewing are my favorites. Right now, knitting is at the top of the list. I get into paper-making in the warmer months sometimes too. I want to try spinning my own yarn, but I'm a little intimidated by the hand-spinning and I'm afraid I'll end up with too many unfinished yarn projects. It looks like a lot of work. I love beads and ribbon, and love to mix yarns & beads & ribbon into all sorts of things. My sewing skills are not so great, but I tend to like imperfection so most of the time I don't much care if my seams are uneven.

Random Info

My favorite color is green. My favorite season is summer. I adore flowers and plants. I don't watch TV. Movies mostly, and then anything goes. I'm addicted to coffee. I think windchimes are magical. I love weird socks. Cucumbers are awesome. I'm not allergic to anything. No really, not even poison ivy. I like to paint abstract pictures with brightly colored finger paints. Weird things make me happy. My favorite scents are citrus (esp. orange) and "hippie" scents like patchouli and sandalwood. I really love learning things and am constantly asking questions. I tend to accumulate random odd things, and all of these things have a story. I love things with stories.

Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention, I love all things paranormal or supernatural. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies...creepy, scary, eerie things make me happy!

Things I would especially love

Right now I'm especially wishing for yarn and keys (any kind, old or new)!

Yarn of any kind, length or color. Even scraps.* Fabric, same. Even scraps.* Ribbon, same.* Buttons* Beads* Anything cat related* Postcards, new or used* Coins & tokens* Incense* Soaps (love homemade)* books of any kind, esp. odd or unusual* marbles* tea*

Surprises are always awesome. I like lots of odd, weird, or interesting things. A little note to say how/where you came by these things is treasured. I'm always interested in the origin of things, and other people's experiences.

Small list of dislikes

cinnamon (flavor & scent) and heavy floral scents. Also, my ears have stretched piercings, so I do not wear standard earrings.

Comment: I was late with my own, so I do appreciate what a difficult swap this was to complete, but I never heard a word from you. Not three months ago, not now and not in response to a long, friendly message I sent you about this. This is the first "1" I can remember giving anyone. Please be clear that it's not that I haven't received it; it's that you haven't contacted me or explained to me what went wrong - or why you signed up in the first place. I'll change this rating if you make good on this swap.

I adore the button necklace, and got lots of compliments when I wore the leaf drop to work. The really neat thing is that they can be worn together! Thank you Bookishgirl!!
Response: I'm sooooo pleased you like them! Those little buttons were rescued from a horrid cardigan sweater!

Hello ^^ I just thought I would say hello and be the first to leave you a message. I liked your profile and I agree about your view of all living things having a right to live - except spiders. They must all DIE! LOL. Just kidding. ^~
