I am an avid reader of historical fiction. I enjoy Jane Austen stories. I also like to read non-fiction articles on issues pertaining to race, social justice, and science.
I am a teacher. I love children's books - - especially for the artwork, which is fantastic! My favorite childrens authors/illustrators are Eric Carle, Maurice Sendak, Jan Brett, and Leo Lionni. I am a HUGE fan of Charley Harper and Mary Blair.
I LOVE all of the Harry Potter books.
I like to listen to blues, classic rock, alternative and I am a Beatles fan. I started playing the piano as an adult after my daughter's diagnosis with nephroblastoma. It was my outlet - - my tranquility in a very stressful time. Sadly, when we moved to TX I had to get rid of our piano but I do still have a full size keyboard that I play on (it's not the same, but it will do).
For more than 13 years, I was a SAHM, recently making the transition back to work full time as an educator. It was rather difficult finding a job after being out of work for so long but I am so happy to be back in a school. During my time as a SAHM, I joke that I was never home. I did boy scouts, girl scouts, PTA, classroom volunteer work, subbing, you name it. I have been creating/crafting/sewing, etc. since as long as I can remember.
I have not been creating or crafting on swap-bot as much since going back to work. My creative outlet now is my classroom. However, I have incorporated ATC cards into my lessons and the kids LOVED it. It was so much fun.
I have amassed quite a collection of ATC cards over they years and I still have my art journals that are sitting there, calling my name....

I really like movies and am a fan of dry humor. One of my favorite comedies is "Death At A Funeral" - the British version (never saw the American one). I also like movies with a surprise twist - "Fight Club" is another of my all time favorite movies. I grew up with older parents so my staple diet growing up was anything Black and White - "Gilda" is a favorite, as is "Harvey" (polar opposites, I know). The movies I enjoy the most are movies with a message that make you think about things in a new way.
I don't watch much T.V. anymore but I tend towards period dramas such as "Downton Abbey," and "When Calls The Heart" I also like, "The Amazing Race." I only watch T.V. on Netflix/Amazon though. It's usually playing in the background late at night while I'm doing something else.
I like an eclectic mix of crafts that involve mixed media. Right now I am into art journaling and ATC cards. But, if it's a craft I have probably tried it: beading, sewing, scrapbooking, etc. I would love to learn how to crochet cute little amigurimi animals - - bought the book, but crocheting and me do not mix.
