If you want a theme for your whole journal, then write in the VERY FRONT cover of your journal what the theme should be. I will also add this to the directions above. However, if you don't want it themed and do not care, on the front cover write 'free theme,'

For those who stay, we are all going to be conversing a lot throughout the five months. We are all dependent upon nine others to carry out the obligations of the swap and send things on time and do our best work.

You should click 'send' after sending your journal off, just so we know everyones journal is then on it's way and should be moving into the hands of another swapper.

I'd like to keep track of when journals go in and out. I am up for suggestions, I thought about creating a blog for this swap and giving all ten of us the passwords so we can report in who has what journal, when it was received and when it was shipped.

Ideas, anyone? Does this sound ok?

Blog or just use this option....we all can see it and we can keep track of what's happening. But everyone needs to remember to leave a comment.... But a blog would be great also, as we could post pictures too.

Ok, I have decided to make a group for this swap. I will be emailing everyone with the group address tomorrow.

I will make ten discussions threads for the ten send dates as described above in the requirements.

For each date, I'd like each member to go there, leave their name, whose journal they had that round, and when they sent it on to the next person.

Once you got your second journal, you would then go to the second date and repeat the process.

This way, everyone gets to see where the journals are, and when they left the hands of each of us.

I will explain this better in the pm I will be sending everyone, and you'll probably understand it better once you join the group and see how I've set things up.

I just wanted to confirm on if there is any restriction on the type of art we can put in the journals. Can we do any kind of art we want? or is there a restriction on it? ( for example: stamping, collages, sketching, zentangles, dyes, etc).

I have added a section at the top in the directions, everyone is to write in the fronts of their journals if they want their journal to be kept at a certain theme, for example if you want your journal to be fairy themed or wedding themed. For those who do not follow the directions, don't complain when you get a journal back full of things you don't particularly like. If you don't mind what others put in your journal, write 'free theme' in the front cover!

Arietor, you can do any type of art you wish, as long as it's art! :) I think I would stray from zentangles, unless you are able to appropriately put an illustration somewhere inside. Just be creative. If you think it consists of 'art' and it's pretty...go for it. Everyone has their own style.

All I ask is that everyone make nice art, don't just throw something together. Create art for others that you would like to receive.

I want to stress to everyone to put their name and address in the front cover of their journal as well. If not, we won't know who to send the journal back to!!

Hey girls, I am working on the group for this swap as I write this. I meant to do this a few weeks ago but like TEN of my swaps went missing...yes TEN. It's very disheartening to have to redo so many ATC cards when you have other projects that need attending.

Hello All! Sorry I have been out of the loop the last week. I am putting @Manjigirl s journal in the mail to @Marata tomorrow AM. I was in a very pink mood for some reason - but I think both pages turned out really well. This is so much fun.

OMG you JUST got that!! I paid for priority shipping!! I've been tracking it for days and there is no record of it in the system. I was getting worried that it wouldn't get to you at all. At least its there now. Very frustrating. I sent the next one that way too. Hopefully it doesn't take as long this time.

Most of us have had 3 journals so far. I think I have everything on this list. @Dakini55 Did you hear back from @bookwormgurl

I haven't worked on yours yet. If the order is correct I've only gotten @Dakini55 s and @BookWormGurl s journals. I'm still waiting on the next one. Actually unless everyone has been sending way ahead of schedule its impossible that so many people have worked on your book @FarStarr It should be only @aguasulis and @Marata that have worked in yours and it may be sitting with @BookWormGurl now.

As far as i can tell at this point it seems that as many as 2 journals are stuck with @BookWurmGirl seeing as tho @Dakini55 is still waiting for the 3rd book. If thats the case it'll put us back a bit but my concern is just making sure all the journals make it back to their owner. I wanna get it out there that I have no issue with anyone dropping out if its become too expensive or time consuming to work on this project or for any other reason. We are all experienced swappers and know that life can sometimes get in the way. Just speak up and we'll work something out. Nomsayin?

Hello everyone, a few of you have expressed concern. There's no need to be alarmed, I'm just going slow thanks to the fact that a bunch of my stuff got lost :(

Here is the message I sent the girls who inquired, so all can read and understand that yes, i am behind. but no, i do not want to drop out of the swap. and yes, i am working on the all the journals i have recieved:

So far I have received two journals, and yes I am behind. I apologize...I had like 20 cards disappear and had to scramble to make 20 new ATC's, plus a journal....having to remake so much stuff has totally gotten me behind. It's a bit irritating because I sign up for the amount of swaps that i can do on time 'once' not 'twice.' I had one lady, i have sent her four ATC's and she still says she hasn't recieved them. So...that's why I'm behind.

I am a little behind, I have been working on the two journals I have received and will be mailing those out by Wednesday at the latest.

I still plan to make a group for this swap if I ever get a few minutes to just breathe. I am a grad student doing an internship this semester, single mom and I usually do my art at night, but like i said, having to remake 20+ cards has gotten me a few weeks behind in everything. :(

no worries though, I intend to keep the journals going. and will watch out for the next two :)

Hmmm.... I'm thinking the schedule will need to be adjusted and the time line extended just a bit. At this point I think we are running a month behind or so. There is no way we can get this completed by the final date. Unless we rush. And honestly i prefer everyone to have plenty of time so we can all do our best work.

@BookWormGurl we should do a new schedule based on when you are able to send the journals you have now. Thoughts?

I sent the journal I was working on out the 1st of the month for the 4th exchange.

Since we are so out of whack with the scheduled dates, I was just planning to have each journal in my hands no more than two weeks. I am running another round robin and that's the way I have it set up. We are an International group so mailing times could be an issue with keeping up with a set schedule too.

I am hoping that @bookwormgurl sent out the two journals last week, but it sounds like they haven't made it to @Dakini55 yet.

like i told everyone, i'm steadily working on catching up on things. i got rated three 1's by three people for whom i sent my swaps...these same people never even bothered to pm and let me know my stuff never arrived.

I haven't. I don't think any more journals will reach her for at least 4-6 weeks. So how bout @HGoodbrad checks in with @Arietor before sending anymore journals to her. If she hasn't logged in or responded by then I suggest we skip her. We don't need any more delays in this project.

@Manjigirl did you receive my journal from @Arietor If I'm not mistaken mine and @Dakini55 journals should have been the last sent to her. So if you've received them then at least they are not stuck with an absent participant. If you haven't then we have a problem.

I'm really sorry but at this point I am going to assume that @Arietor has decided to flake on this and keep all our journals. Its been just about 3 weeks since she last logged in and other than her own, no other journals have been sent to her partner. Its unfortunate because I was really looking forward to this swap. So I've decided to drop out of this swap. I'm really sorry to do this but my book is more than likely lost so its just not worth it for me to stay in this swap anymore.

@StephL let me know if you will be staying in this swap so I can forward the journals I now have to you.

I've decided to contact SB admin about this. It seems that 5 of us will have our books stolen by this chick and none of us can rate her for it. Thats not fair so hopefully the admin can do something about that.

Sorry for not logging on more but I have been crazy busy. I only have 2 journals in my possession and i just rec'd this last one today. The one I received in the last week or so is @bibiana826 s. I was really excited to do this swap and to find swap bot in general but frankly the comments everyone has written are really angry and hurtful. I apologize for being a bit late and not checking in sooner, but I am doing it all as fast as the post can get it to me. Everything around this season is extremely backed up because of the holidays.

I will sent dakini55 her back right away, but at this point I am really not enjoying this swap anymore. I can send @bibiana826 to her as well or forward it on whichever you prefer.

I'm sure you can see how one can misunderstand your not logging in for so long and the delay on your partner receiving the next journals as a sign that you had flaked on this swap.I too was really excited about this swap but with all the issues it's just too much for me right now.

Please do send mine back. I can understand life gets in the way sometimes. But the truth of the matter is that round robins are NOTORIOUS for getting flaked on. We've had two scares already and quite frankly I don't want to continue to put in the time, effort and money I have in the event that something else goes wrong.

Wow! Post was fast - especially for this time of year. Apologies for not putting a note in Far Starr but I was too keen to keep the book moving and forgot good manners! lol Merry Christmas too. Still no sign of HGoodbrad's book. Any suggestions about what Arietor and I can do??? No sign of it at the post office (and they know me and my swaps pretty well as it is a one block town!)

Hmmm..since @HGoodbrad s book didn't have too many entries I'm thinking that it would be okay for her to start another if that is okay with everyone else. It still could show up and I've found that sometimes just the threat of starting another makes the original miraculously appear! :)

I agree Farr Starr. Perhaps if time is an issue @HGoodbrad can send it straight to me so that if the one already started turns up she doesn't miss out time wise or on work done. If it doesn't turn up then we can keep sending on to the people who worked on her first one? Just a thought. :)

Canada post is super slow as they have been closed for a large chunk of the holidays. they said delays can be huge (up to a month or two) around christmas time. I have not rec'd another journal yet. I sent @Hgoodbrad s ages ago, I'm not even sure when it was sent out. It was the PINK themed one right? it was lovely, I added extra jewels to the front and everything. It would be awful if her journal didn't re-appear it was pretty cute. I'll note when i get the next one in the mail

So what do I need to do? Who do I send my new journal to? Thanks to all of you that have stuck this out, I've had so much fun receiving all the different journals what a creative group. Please let me know what to do

Hi All! I just heard from bibiana826 and there are four journals traveling between FL and Canada to StephL. Everything is moving except for HGoodbrad's missing journal. :(

Hi. Checked at the post office again today just in case HGoodbrad's journal was lurking somewhere and they said apparently there is a big backlog in quarantine due to the Christmas mail. With a bit of luck it is there but I have my doubts. So just in case people didn't know there are certain items that you must not send to Australia:

seeds or other plant materials (pressed leaves etc.); shells; soil & sand; tea with fruit pieces; incense; dried/pressed flowers; raw nuts/seeds; any animal products such as raw hide; feathers, etc.; any wooden items This is not as restrictive as you think! I have only had one swap opened to date and it passed quarantine. I fully support our quarantine laws but they can be a delaying factor. So perhaps think before getting too creative!!! lol

checking in to see where we are.....this is quite an endeavor. At least the journals are on the move. Looks like there should be 8 journals being worked on someplace in the world. I don't have any at this time, but looking forward to getting one in the mail whenever they get in the mail again.

Have a journal going out sometime early next week. So sorry for delay, my beloved grandmother has fallen terribly ill and only half her heart is working :( Been very distressed over this, plus with the holidays and getting ready to move again.

So glad to see that everyone is working on their journals. I am keeping recent with this one and playing catch up with the ones that are behind.

Just wanted to check in, I have three journals on my hands....having some technical issues with my stupid printer, have looked high and low for colored ink....guess i'm looking at having to buy a new one...anyway I don't want to do a halfway job on these and prefer to be able to print some images to use in my collage pieces.

Anyway, hope to have this resolved in the next week or so, didn't want anyone getting concerned of my where abouts.

I will see if swapbot will let me extend the date as well so you guys can keep this swap at the top of your lists.

Yes, sounds good to me. I haven't gotten any books in a long time but Looks like (by the great list) that I have two more to work on.....I really love working on them. I hope BookWormGurl solves her printer problem or can make that a challenge to go in a new direction. I find problems create and open up new possibilities. I think we are supposed to get sunshine this next week after a month of rain and snow. Guess it 's true. March in like a lion, out like a lamb.

Just wanted to tell you guys that I am going to be on vacation for 2 weeks. I just received ManjiGirl's journal (it is beautiful). I will work on it when I get back. I am almost finished up on FarrStarr's journal (sorry, it is taking me some time to figure out what to do) and will mail it out when I get back. I am going to be sooo happy to get away from home, we just got hit by a huge snowstorm (over 20 cm of snow).

We had snow on Friday, but it is all gone now. We actually turned the pond waterfall on today.

I just finished @BookWormGurl s book and will get it in the mail in the next couple of days.

Ok girls, FINALLY got them all completed. Didn't have my printer, but did have lots of nice magazine images, some of my own art, and other misc items which i think looks pretty great. I'm living with the gramps right now and helping him out after a minor illness, that and my little one is draining me but i hope i can sign up for some other swaps soon.

Sincerely sorry for the delay in getting this last batch of journals done :( Mr Printer is still out of commission, but I'm still getting things done!

Canada is having a provincially rotating postal service strike right now so any mail that comes out of here is likely to take awhile to get anywhere, even after the strike is over because there will be a backlog. Anyone know where my Journal might be?! I haven't seen any for soo long :(

Two journals in one week!! Farrstars is here and I worked the midnight oil to get it ready. Will be in the mail in the next day or so. Another one sent home. YAY!

Does anyone know where my journal is? I have been worried cause I think I have one more journal to work on - @marata but I haven't received it yet. I'm getting ready to move and it's going to get crazy here at my house.

I really wonder what it is about my journal. I keep hearing how no one can seem to get around to it and everyone is too busy or has too many journals to work on. Geez ma weez. If you don't have the time to work on it please just send it on so I can get it back.THANKS.....

@marata I mailed out your journal to manjigirl today. it is the last one I am supposed to be working on, I believe I have worked on and sent off everyone elses already. Everyone please be aware that I am mailing to manjigirl who is in australia. It's supposed to be a 4 week mailing time (though it seems to be more along the lines of 12 week) just to get to her, so there is a big delay just on that front. The journals get to her, but it takes quite some time to to do so. Can't wait to get my journal back.

so if our journals are sent to Australia then we have 3 more months before we get them? the shipping must cost a lot so the journals are getting sent slow boat around the world. not such a great strategy. I could send the money to send it faster if that is what is needed. Let me know.

@marata for your journal it was $14.50 to send. Most of the journals are around that much for me to send to australia. Sending them for anything more than that cost $28.00 - $54.00+, depending on the weight and the last one I sent Air was supposed to be faster (it was HGoodbrad's) and it took 3 months for Manjigirl to get it. Sorry guys, I think it is just going to take some time. Manjigirl is always really good with sending them off really quickly after she gets them so you will get it as soon as she can mail it out.

@Marata They are moving. It isn't fair to expect @Arietor to pay a ton to ship from Canada to Australia.....so we'll just have to be patient... :)

Wow!! My journal is home!!! Yay! Thank you sooo much everyone. It is wonderful. It looks like only 6 people (other than me) worked in it. I wonder if it missed someone???

Hi Marata I see that I am next to receive your journal. Don't panic - Canada post seems very slow to get here but we Aussies are very fast to process and deliver so it will quick once I get it.

As for postage costs that is just something you have to grin and bear when you join a swap like this. I have spent up to $20 per item and returned an extra one when we thought Hgoodbrad's journal was missing. But everyone is doing such a good job it is worth it. Happy swapping everyone.

I think @bookwormgurl has mine and at least one other. I haven't seen them yet and she said she was going to send them ages ago. Urrgghhh!

@StephL I think it is yours and mine that bookwormgurl has as she had yours and mine last according to the list and you would be next on the list to get mine after her but have not yet gotten it. Does anyone have her e-mail? Life probably just got in the way of her swapping, we could ask her to send ours home when she can.

Guess what? @Marata s journal arrived today. Only took 3 weeks to get here - not the usual 12 so I guess the backlog from the postal strike is finally clearing? Anyway will hopefully work on it over the weekend and send it on it's merry way on Monday. @Arietor I loved the large statement on the envelope that this was the last one! Had to send that on to Farstarr for a laugh. Cheers all.

I have emailed Rachel twice to try and get this swap reopened so we can get the addresses, but I never received a response.

Rachel wasn't able to change the hostess, but she did extend the dates so we can see all the addresses again.

I googled the address for @Bookwormgurl and didn't come up with anything. She might have moved and I can't come up with any address for Luna Moon Ray. I'm guessing she didn't use her real name here. Did her journal make it home to her?

some of us are still waiting... this has turned into a very long process.

HGoodbrad, send her a deluge of postcards, one a week begging for your journal. If she moved maybe the post office will forward the mail. Maybe something happened to her. Check out the library phone books and see if she is listed and also there is a way to cross check addresses to see if she is still around.
