I am a Arabic\Cherokee Native American Indian from the Wolf Klan. My mother was 100% Native and my father was Saudia Arabian stationed in the military when my mother met him. I did not know my dad well growing up,he left very early in my life I was just a kid, trying to fit in anywhere. Both of my parents are deceased and I have chosen to learn my mothers Native culture because it was locked away from me,and I enjoy this part of me and enjoy doing native work ,but I have also have been introduced to ATC art. I can really express myself with this form of art. I volunteer to teach history on the American Indians in the public schools. Over time I realized that alot of children do not know the history of the Natives. Some of them dont even know the Indians were a very big part of the New World. I was brought up to deny my mothers culture in the 70s. My family said not to speak the language and deny our own people to fit into society, and over time being asked what nationality are you? Where are you from? Became very sad for me because I was not allowed to be me growing up, and did not know how to express myself,or express the love of my people. I found a natural way in my early 20s and that was Art. Now my children go through the same challenges and I teach them to be proud, and your one of a kind. I also hold a class for children once a month, to come and express themselves in art form. I do this with a friend free of charge, because the town were I live is so small, and the economy is so bad people cant afford to do many things with their families. I am a single mother teaching my children to become good assets to society. To express themselves in art,to let out the inner spirit and let it take you as far as you want to go. Art keeps us sane, and art is your soul coming out.
I enjoy alot of native flute music, but also alot of Latino,Arabic. This is very beautifully orcherstrated music and has a great beat to it. I also enjoy quite alot of late 60s and 70s disco I have a little disco in me,and some flower child some were. I can relate to the older music better, because of the message it sends out.I make it a point for my children to play several different types of instruments. I beleive it is good for them to dive deep in music too.
I enjoy books on diverse religion,Learning about different culture and their history.I am addicted to National Geographic I also am a fan of Native Peoples magazine. It connects Indians all around the U.S. with events, pow wows, jewerly shows, political events, and new upcoming artists.
Im not big on movies.I will watch t.v. ocasionally. The last movie I sat down to watch was "Into the West" Steven Spielberg was producer. Very long, good movie about Native history. One of the best movies I watched in a long time.
When I do watch t.v. its a real life drama or a documentary on history. I have watched the series to Grimm only because my children love it. I have to say I am quite taken with this series. I sometimes enjoy Alfred Hitchcock presents
My favorite crafts are my Native American projects and I usually make them for Pow Wows. I also make specially designed Hard Hats for men in the Contruction business, that like to express their personalities on their heads. I do some Mardi Gras masked and collect some too.I have a mass collection of rare perfume bottles. I do collect arrow heads when I get the time to go hunting for them. These are my pride and joy.
My family and I have 2 turtles. One yellow belly slider, named Taco, and one Red ear slider named Scar. They are about the size of a saucer. The turtles are so entertaining to watch, and they do know their owners by voice.Turtles love to know what your up to when your around their living quarters. In native culture the turtle is very important. It represents, long life and power.I also have a love for camels and desert oasis. I am a very shy quiet person, my life evolves around my family only and I cant seem to find my soul mate, and at 42, Im ready to just let go of finding love, and put my efforts into my art. I dont have many friends so I thought this Swap would be good for me to talk to other people and see different forms of artistic abilities. I have a hard time feeling comfortable with myself and fitting in with groups of people, and Im hoping this may be my what Im looking for, and needing.
