Book fanatic. Sci-fi/fantasy nerd. Yarn lover. Frazzled but happy mom, passing on the wisdom of Star Wars and Doctor Who to my children. After being laid off last year, I went back to school for my MLIS (Library & Information Science) and wish I'd had the good sense to do it sooner.
Oh, and I pretty much run on coffee.
Viva las '80s! Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Eurythmics, Yaz/Alison Moyet, and the rock 'n' roll, including the hair bands - Def Lep, Motley Crue, Poison, you name 'em. My iPod is pretty schizophrenic; I've got everything from old school Run DMC to Nine Inch Nails.
The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, anything by Neil Gaiman. I've been getting into the Doctor Who and Torchwood series of novels, and although I don't read them as often as I used to, Star Trek novels. I like some of the earlier British chick-lit stuff like Bridget Jones Diary. I also enjoy The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher and the Hellboy novels.
I've been rediscovering my favorite kids books (and discovering some new favorites) through my kids. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory/Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator and The Chronicles of Narnia are two sets that I never get tired of.
There is far too much good television on these days; my DVR is exhausted. I miss Battlestar Galactica desperately but am thrilled that SyFy (ugh... can't stand that name change) is putting money into acquiring good programming like Sanctuary and Warehouse 13. I also love Fringe, Supernature, and Chuck. I'm ticked off that The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Reaper were taken from us!
I love a good comedy, The Office needs to be here, and I've been getting a kick out of new shows Modern Family and Community (The Soup is a DVR mainstay for me).
Can't wait to see how they manage to clean up all the loose ends on Lost, and I'm glad Project Runway is back.
And then, there's the stuff of childhood that never gets old: Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and Tales from the Darkside.
I love, love, LOVE to knit. I'm a beginning scrapbooker, but if I've got money to spend, it's going toward yarn. I'm also attempting to learn to quilt and get better acquainted with my sewing machine.
I love crafting with my kids, and enjoy anything I can do with the kids that doesn't lead to meltdowns. Oriental Trading has saved my life on many occasions.
