About Me

I started life as a world traveller, my parents were missionaries in the mid 60’s (I was born in 1966) and we travelled and lived in Asia. We were mainly based in Bangladesh until the Civil War broke out in 1971. We came home and we wandered like Gypsy’s for a while until we settled in Newcastle. I went to the US in 1983-84 as an exchange student and of all things, went to Prom. It was like something out of a john waters movie, and all heaps and heaps of fun.I discovered boys and sex (in that order) while away, came home and left for the “delights of our capital, Canberra. At that time I thought I was kiss- ing a handsome prince, but my ex-husband was in fact a toad. I worked in the foreign service, a spell in the Protocol Division taught me which diplomatic plates on cars to avoid. I did some very low, low level intelligence work and almost caused a diplomatic incident. I also meet an albino KGB agent who looked like a brick with eyes. I worked for the Film and Sound Archive as a film technician. I got divorced at came to Sydney. I worked for some pretty shonky chancers in the building industry (the only time in my life I used the words “I quit in a sentence). I kept the books for a smoked seafood exporter and had neighborhood cats follow me home. I worked in a number of different faculties of a local university and got to see a 3,000 year old mummy (it was weird, I wanted to touch it). We, then boyfriend now husband, moved to Tasmania for the lifestyle. Only to come back in search of a faster lifestyle ... with radio ... and electric lights. I went to Uni myself and gained an honours degree in textile design. I worked in IBM on the phones, and used to whisper down the lines that the
callers should all buy Macs. I worked in the fashion industry for a while. Chained to a desk from 8 - 6, and still expected to call everyone “darling. I went and eventually managed a military history bookshop. My all time fa- vourite job, met every nut bag and true hero that Australia had to offer. I got married. Woo hoo! Worked in a military gaming store with toy soldiers instead of the real thing, and boy oh boy, meet some real weirdos and some very nice folks. I am now at home with my mighty nearly three year old daughter, who makes me very happy but bloody tired.
