I love sending little packages, cards and fun things to friends and strangers alike. I've always been a fan of getting things in the mail and I love the idea that someone else gets to have that surprise too.
Please do send a note if you don't receive a swap from me. I'm happy to resend if something goes wrong.
I try to encourage kindness in swaps and in life. Most of us are going through these days and the mail seems a really good place to share some care and compassion.
I'm a huge reader, lots of different types of books from novels to poetry to nonfiction. There's pretty much nothing I won't pick up.
I'm in love with the poets David Whyte, Mark Nepo and Mary Oliver. Some favorite novels: A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Eight, Ender's Game. Favorite Authors: Octavia Butler, Jacqueline Carey, Sarah Waters, Brene Brown, Jessie Burton, N.K Jemisin, Tayari Jones and Nnedi Okorafor
Little Miss Sunshine, Stranger than Fiction, A Fish Called Wanda, Dr. Strangelove. I have a love of bad dance movies like Center Stage or Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights - I'm talking bad acting, bad plot, fantastic dancing! It makes me happy!
I'm a knitter, sewer and generally an all around crafty type. I've always got various projects lying around that I'm working on (no there are NOT too many of them! :). I've started spinning yarn and I play around with quilting.
With paper, I really love watercolor and I like to play around with colors and doodles. I like stickers and particularly vinyl ones to stick on water bottles.
I enjoy being inspired by creative people, if you have something artistic that you're trying out (drawing/doodling, artistic writing/calligraphy, small paintings/ATCs, whatever!), I'd be excited to see it!
These days I want to watch things that are feel good like Community, Parks and Recreation, The Great British Bakeoff, Zumbo's Just Desserts and more. I like scifi too and will sometimes watch Star Trek, Firefly, Dr. Who or Sherlock.
Tea, Earl Grey, hot.
You pretty much can't go wrong with sending me teas. I'm trying my to try a few more in the herbal/non-caffeinated variety, but I do love a good rich black tea, spicy chais and grassy green teas.
I love most things purple, blue and green or teal. I also like cool muted colors like grey, black and olive. Every once in a while I play with splashes of magenta and reds
But then again, rainbows and sparkles are fun too aren't they?
I love walking through the woods, having tea with friends and generally enjoying life. For fun, I swim, walk and do aerials (yay circus!).
Ferns, trees, mountains, anything related to the ocean, herbs/gardens, botanical prints, line drawings, drawings, mandalas (particularly those in nature), swirls, dogs/puppies (allergic to cats sadly), ducks, striped things, geometric designs, black and white photos, pages from books turned into art, stamps, handmade or artistic paper, marbled paper, Japanese design principles, minimalism, modern designs, spirals and patterns.
I adore vintage post cards, old school science fiction, pretty patterns and random postcards from places I've never been.
I'm a big fan of quotes and interesting questions and ideas. I love poetry, so if you love a poem and want to include it any package you can be assured I will enjoy reading it.
If you doodle, zentangle or can do fun fonts/calligraphy, I'd love to see it! I really appreciate art, even beginner art.
I really enjoy hearing about you and what you're thinking about if you write. I appreciate any of the following in a note or card: * A description of something you saw or did today. * Something you would do in your perfect day. * Your comfort food and what makes it so wonderful * What your favorite book or movie and why. * Things that make you laugh. * Bits of trivia.
I'm rarely offended and hard to disappoint. I welcome things that are darker or weird too e.g. skulls/blood/skeletons/witchy/runes etc
I've started spinning yarn. If you have any handspun and want to swap, let me know and we can do a private swap! If you have roving to offload, I'd love that too.
In yarn I like most natural fibers like wool, cotton, linen. I'm not a huge fan of acrylic unless it's chenille or mixed with something. Extra points for the lux stuff like silk/alpaca/merino. Totally not required.
Gauge is open, though I tend to like worsted/sport/chunky. That said I also enjoy a good ball of sock yarn. Especially those ones which shift colors. So fun to knit with! If you happen to have ravelry patterns you love, I'd be interested in hearing!
