I grew up in the South, but since 2006 I have lived in Baltimore, MD; Lawrence, KS; Savannah, GA; NYC; Columbia, SC; Des Plaines, IL; Evanston, IL; Geneseo, NY; Tucson, AZ; and now Asheville, NC. I do not mind moving even though I am getting older and it takes me months to regain my energy. lol
I am currently a student, too. I am working on my Ph.D. where I am focusing on sex education. I have a masters from NYU in gender politics and a masters from the University of Kansas in higher education administration. I can be a little nerdy at times because I am always seeking new knowledge.
I love watching documentaries and such movies based on historical times/events, especially events involving the American American experience. I have recently been watching Mississippi Burning continuously.
I am into cultural aspects of life. I love learning new things. I have always wanted to serve in the Peace Corps, but I was either too afraid to fly or my timing was not correct. One day I will venture abroad. Drove to Canada once and saw Mexico from El Paso!
I like music. I tend to like everything from a lil country to R&B to pop to a few international artists. Match Box 20 was one of my favorite bands growing up. I am currently riding the Cardi B wave. I say I am not much of a Beyonce fan, but I do listen to a number of her songs. I also grew up with a mom who played Blues music in the house every Saturday while we cleaned house.
I would also say I am all for justice. I believe in human dignity regardless of party/creed/nationally/etc. It is a decency we owe each other.
When I am not studying or working, I enjoy taking care of my pet tarantulas and spending time with my three nephews. I have two tarantulas. I also love to road trip from time-to-time as the adventure provides me with the best time to reflect on life.I would rather drive to where I am going than fly. Flying gives me so much anxiety.
Inspiration: Be brave with your life.
