I wove the part in the middle with a weaving loom. A little $5 one I got at Hobby Lobby. Then I just placed it in the middle of the piece of fabric and wrapped the sides up around it and sewed like I would a regular patch. It was really easy. I didn't have to stuff it because it was already fluffy enough. It was really easy. I bet you could use a placemat though. That's a great idea!
You're welcome, and no I didn't sew that garland. Someone on here sent me a package of it, I think it was from Michaels. I can't even thread a needle, haha.
