Crafty Vintage collector from Texas. I prefer the unusual and unique. As an 80's girl I have a tendency to rescue the toys and pop culture references of my youth. A lifelong obsession is my collection of Moon Landing memorabilia - fueled by the fact that I was born as Armstrong took his first steps. I love vintage horror, bad B movies, Adams Family, Munsters, and oddities. I still frequent comic book shops as well as the ancient literature section of our local library. We even throw together the odd D&D game with the old crew from time to time. I love little things and getting mail is always fun. I will not be disappointed in anything you send. Feel free to share your favorite things with me.
True Crime, Vintage Horror, Lovecraft, biographies, '50's Sci Fi and historical nonfiction. I just realized I left out craft books....I rescue forlorn vintage craft books. The hardcover kind from the 70's that give you all the info you need to be hippie fabulous and old craft magazines like vintage leatherworking magazines etc. Lots of lost processes out there.
I just love movies. My degree is in radio/tv/film so I come to movies with a different eye than most.
Dark Sci-Fi, dystopian fantasy and animated cartoons. Serious bibliophile and BBCA watcher. I have a love for bad b-movies - the worse the better.
I lean toward the 'oldies' station - which is heavy on 70's metal and 80's grunge in our area. But my own itunes account is an eclectic mix of Willie Nelson (the old stuff I grew up on), The Cure and Type O....Viking Death Metal...SKA...I am really all over the map. At work we keep it customer friendly, so that is where I get my pop fix. When the husband and I go out to dance we end up at 80's night at the goth club or the Roller Rink. Sure beats the gym for exercise.
My dining room is actually my craft room....
leatherwork metal work costuming knitting Viking knitting felting creature creation upcycling pottery assemblage and anything else that strikes my fancy at the moment...
Update on our Blue Boxes - We now have new 'tamper proof' Blue Boxes at the Salado Post Office! Woo Hoo. So big mystery around town is why the blue postal boxes outside our post office were wrapped in plastic and marked closed for the last week. Seems Salado (as well as many other towns up and down the highway) has had a rash of box thefts. The culprits pick the locks, remove the mail, go through it for checks, credit card info and anything of value and then return the mail to the boxes and no one has been the wiser for months! Seems the post master only became aware when a truck parked across the street caught the thieves on their security camera. The license plate was visible and the family (yes family) has been arrested. They have also been identified as the folks stealing amazon packages from front porches in this and three other counties. Looks like our post office is going to need to reinstall the indoor mail drop that was removed a few years ago. So for now if you can't get into the post office before it closes at 3 pm, there is no where to leave mail. (aside from your own personal box at your home of course) I will be sending swaps from random post offices for a while so you never know where the postmark will be from! lol (and if you want a cool photo of the boxes all wrapped up send me your email address - I think it would make a great postcard and I am considering having some printed!)
I live in the boonies in rural Texas. Mail is a rural route and we only receive mail from the sorting facility every other day. If you don't get something - drop me a message and let me know. I don't want the snail pace of our mail to effect the fun!
Update: Had a chance to chat with our new postmaster about delivery etc. Mail is not sorted at our local facility, only bagged for the truck from Austin to pick up. Pickup is daily, but the bags then go to the postal sorting station in Austin - just under 50 miles away. Rural mail is sorted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday then delivered to our post office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The day I put it in the mailbox is NOT the day that will be reflected on the postmark! So many rural delivery routes are going to this method that I thought it important to pass this information on. This is nothing that the public has control over, in fact the schedule is 'flexible' as per the Post Master - This means that even if I compensate for a specific send date, they still have the right to hold the unsorted mail for up to a week before processing.
Everyone has those little things they rescue/save/love, these are mine: - Viewmaster reels - Red dice (only the red ones, I have a jar I keep them in that sits in my bathroom window) - Playing cards...but only the queen of hearts. If you have a broken deck I would be happy to adopt it. I keep the queen and upcycle the other cards into display tags for jewelry. - lego figures and or tiny lego things the figures can hold - Pens/pencils with figures on top - cool stickers - I use them in my planner and for letter writing - Vintage Halloween - I was married Oct. 31 so that should give you an idea. Love the 70s stuff. - Anything relating to Apollo 11 or the first Moon Landing. There were so many things and they are only just now showing up at garage sales so I am always on the look out

Hello π fella rural boonie Texan!!
Profile from all over #9!
Hello
I want to share on of my favorites qoutes today.
I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best β Marilyn Monroe

Hello there and greetings from San Francisco! While it may be foggy and a little chilly some days during the summer, on the weekends you can find me at a vineyard or yummy restaurant somewhere around the Bay Area :) hope you have a wonderful day.
I love love love that you know Jhonen Vasquez. My first introduction to him was through a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comic book my friend shoved in my face. From then on I was obsessed. I love the detail he puts in his work. Like the words and images around the borders. It was just a new experience altogether for me with comics. I'm both excited and dreading the movie. I'm hoping they keep it to the roots and not try to be over theatrical to make the mass happy rather than the real fans.
I have heard of Roman Dirge and Lenore. I actually really liked the artwork of that. I haven't heard of the other two so I'm definitely going to look into them. Especially considering you have great taste. I'm actually excited. It's been awhile since I've read a new comic. My copy of JTHM is looking pretty ratty lol. Might have to look into buying another copy eventually.
I really appreciate the suggestions. Also, my moms really good at research so if I can't find it she will. ^.^ Have an amazing day. You totally brightened up mine!!
