Hi there, I'm Meredith. I am a recovering service industry worker who works part time on a small organic family farm. When I'm not at the farm harvesting flowers and vegetables I can be found at home taking care of my two kiddos. In my limited free time, I do Zentangle drawings, run, and work on my home garden.
In 2024 I will be turning 40, and the gift I have been working to give myself is the gift of health. I plan on running the Detroit Free Press International Marathon in October 2024. Leading up to that, I will be training a lot, so wish me luck!
I was introduced to the Zentangle method in late 2019. I became more interested in it after I was gifted my first project pack from Zentangle Inc.. I am on a journey to develop my own style. The Zentangle community is so incredibly generous with the amount of support and material available for anyone who wants to learn. It is truly a gift to have been introduced to such a fun and relaxing art form.
I enjoy working on challenges, project packs and other tutorials put together by some of the amazing artists that are out on social media.
I love working in black and white as much as I enjoy color. I can't say that I have a favorite medium to work with, as I have limited experience with most of it. I have tried working with various fineliner pens, gelly roll pens, watercolors, and brush pens, and they each have something different to offer. Every piece is an opportunity.
Art/crafting:
Pen/Ink drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, sewing, quilting, pottery, various other traditional crafts (weaving, basket weaving).
I am curious to learn more about preparing eco-dyes, creating salves/balms from medicinal herbs/flowers.
Food/Drink:
Allergy: Shellfish (please do not send anything derived from shellfish).
International treats - I enjoy trying foods and snacks from all over the world.
Tea: herbal infusions (fruit, mint), black teas (earl grey, malty/rich,”Christmas”), Oolong, Jasmine. I have found that I do not particularly care for teas with chocolate, caramel or vanilla "flavoring" - that said, if the tea has cocoa or cacao or actual vanilla bean I seem to like it just fine. Just a picky preference - that said, send along whatever you choose and I may simply pass it on to another person.
I love to try all sorts of new dishes. My family and I prefer vegetarian meals, so if sending a recipe please keep that in mind.
Themes: Halloween, Christmas, Autumn, gardening and farming, outdoors/ nature, running
Media: Harry Potter, Saga, Monstress, Paper Girls, Disney Parks and Villains, Star Trek (ALL Trek - but especially DS9 and Lower Decks), Fallout, Sci-Fi/Fantasy (favorite authors: N.K. Jemison, Octavia Butler).
Favorite Spotify Playlists: Fallout Radio (all games), Retrowave//Outrun, Beast Mode Dance, Yuletide and Winter Solstice Songs
Favorite Podcasts: Life Kit (NPR) Planet Money (NPR) Snap Judgment Two Minutes in the Garden Star Trek: The Pod Directive
I’m newer to Swap Bot and consider myself to be responsible when it comes to swapping and mail. Should you not receive a package from me, please message me and I will send you an alternate asap. I take the time to rate any swap partners and would appreciate it if you do the same when swapping with me. If there are any concerns about timelines, please let me know if we can come to a reasonable arrangement! I consider a piece of mail "sent" when I drop it in a mailbox or send it off with the letter carrier.
I’m a big, tattooed nerd who really tries not to take life too seriously. My family is very important to me and keeps me very busy.
