Hi! I’m Monika, and I live in beautiful Cyprus with my family. I’m a proud mom to two wonderful boys, aged 3 and 4, and happily married to my amazing husband. We share our home with Bruno, our playful Cypriot cat who’s 18 months old. I’m passionate about Postcrossing and have been exchanging and collecting postcards from around the world for 10 years, loving how it brings pieces of different cultures to my doorstep. I also enjoy crafting — from crochet, sewing, and jewelry making to creating with shells and other treasures I find on the beach. I’m currently learning to knit, too! Language is another interest of mine; I speak both English and Polish, and I’m in the process of learning Greek. I’m a big advocate for mental health care and enjoy mindfulness and meditation. Additionally, I’m passionate about women’s health and pregnancy and aspire to become a qualified midwife.

I’m quite easygoing when it comes to music and enjoy listening to a wide variety of genres. You’ll find me exploring everything from the classics of the 50s to modern hits. My all-time favorite musician is Freddie Mercury, whose incredible talent and charisma continue to inspire me. I also really love Little Mix for their empowering songs and harmonies, and Ed Sheeran is definitely one of my favorites, with his heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies. Additionally, I’m a big fan of ABBA, especially their remixes from the Mamma Mia movies. My playlists are always diverse, reflecting my love for music in all its forms!

I’m quite easygoing when it comes to reading and enjoy a variety of book genres. I recently loved diving into the Bridgerton series, which was a delightful escape into romance and intrigue. My bookshelf is filled with stories based on true events, true crime, love stories, and travel books that transport me to new places and experiences. The only genre I tend to avoid is horror and scary books, as I prefer stories that inspire and uplift rather than give me a fright!

My favourite movie is Dirty Dancing, a classic that has captured my heart since I was 13. I also enjoy The Nightmare Before Christmas, Encanto (which is why my cat is named Bruno), Moana, and Mamma Mia. Each of these films offers a unique blend of music, storytelling, and emotion that I find captivating and enjoyable. Whether it’s the dance scenes, the vibrant characters, or the unforgettable songs, these movies always leave me feeling inspired and happy!

My all-time favourite series is Friends, and I love returning to it for its humor and heartwarming moments. I also really enjoy The Big Bang Theory and its spin-off, Young Sheldon—in fact, I found Young Sheldon even more enjoyable than Big Bang. I’m a big fan of Law and Order and other series that involve solving criminal cases. Additionally, I recently started watching Grey’s Anatomy, so I still have a lot of seasons to catch up on. I really enjoyed Bridgerton and The Crown on Netflix as well. Beyond scripted shows, I’m really into true crime documentaries and series inspired by or based on real-life criminal cases. I also enjoy reality shows like The Traitors, Race Around the World, and Love Is Blind, as they offer a fun glimpse into different personalities and experiences.

I really love writing postcards and have been doing so for the last 10 years as part of my Postcrossing hobby. I also enjoy crochet and sewing, teaching myself these skills with the help of YouTube tutorials. I’m quite impressed with knitting and have been trying to learn it for the last couple of years, slowly making progress. Additionally, I enjoy creating things from items I find on the beach, transforming natural treasures into unique crafts that hold special memories.

Another craft I enjoy is painting on windows, and I always decorate my windows for the holidays. Last year, I painted a festive Christmas scene featuring a flamingo wearing a Santa hat on a beach, complete with palm trees decorated like Christmas trees. Right now, I’m excited to start painting a Nightmare Before Christmas scene on my windows to celebrate Halloween. Each of these activities allows me to express my creativity and connect with the world around me!

When it comes to postcards, I have a few favourite series that I absolutely adore. My top picks include FOTW (Flags of the World), MOTW (Maps of the World), Lou Paper state and country postcards, and WT (World Travel) postcards. I especially love receiving them sent from their origin, as it adds a personal touch to each card. Additionally, I enjoy touristic postcards that showcase buildings, nature, iconic sites, and the unique culture of the places they’re sent from. Each postcard I receive tells a story and connects me with different parts of the world!
