My friends call me "Bacon". I am a Roller Derby girl currently living in San Diego (La Mesa Really). I have two kids, two rats, two dogs (Gotta be honest, though, I don't care for dogs), and a wife (That's my subtle way of telling you I'm in a lesbian marriage). I skate alot, mostly around the bay. I work at a skate shop and also help plan an annual derby convention in Las Vegas.
I have been using Postcrossing for a few years, and thought I would love to see what else is out there. I really just love ANY postcards. I suppose I like unusual/interesting/shocking things. Also, cartoons, handmade things, sewing pieces, collages....but everything really :)
As I poke around, I find it difficult to find a good place to start on this site, so please be patient with me...I learn fast. I have already had a few people tell me that I can't participate in things simply because my profile isn't long enough, but no one has offered any clue as to what they think I should tell you that I haven't...help a sister out!
SO MUCH! I like just about every kind of music especially if it's live. I like Rock, Metal, Industrial, Pop, Country, Rap, Indie, Chick Rock...I suppose my least favorite kind of music is Punk, but that isn't even really true as there are plenty of exceptions to that statement.
Here are the most recent concerts I have been to (Forgive me if they are tamer than what I saw in my younger days, but my wife really just likes country, so it's always a compromise): -Journey -Sheryl Crow -Rascal Flatts -Steve Miller -Indigo Girls -Berlin (Love them, seen them twice now) -Weezer (Also seen several times) -We have tickets to Melissa Etheridge and Garth Brooks in November.
I miss books. I used to devour books when my kids were little, now it takes me months sometimes just to finish one. I try to listen to audiobooks when the office is empty or I have long drives, but listening to audiobooks somehow feel dirty and isn't something I am especially proud of. I suppose it's a step above watching the movie version of a book instead of reading though ;)
Things I like to read: -Stephen King -Stephen King -Stephen King -Suze Orman (I read everything she writes and am still broke) -Non-fiction, usually about angry feminists or silly hippie ladies that tell you all about how you should love your body and vagina and keep it free of hate (I'm only half kidding, I mean, HELLO, I live in San Diego...we like butterflies and sunshine and stuff around here) -I forgot what we were talking about, OH RIGHT BOOKS! -I like books (But clearly choose to spend my free time on postcards instead, blame our ADD Culture)
-Warriors -What Dreams May Come -Hackers -The Big Lebowski -Mad Love -Carrie -The Stand (The mini series, so it actually probably belongs under TV, but it qualifies as a movie as movies are inherently better than TV shows) -If you read above that I skate, please don't assume I like the movie Whip It...it's shite.
I ALWAYS tell people I don't watch TV, but since the invention of Netflix, I mostly feel like a liar now when I say I don't watch TV. I now say "I don't have cable"
-American Horror Story -OITNB (and not because I share a bed with another woman, but because it is a truly great show in which the women are more than a shallow afterthought of an incomplete character that maybe will show her boobs) ((I get paranoid that people think lesbians can't be objective so I over explain lol)) -Jane the Virgin (OK so I had HULU for a month also, but I did notice this is NOW on Netflix as of this week) -Big Love (And I also use my bosses Prime account sometimes when she's out of town) -Transparent -Roseanne (That's pretty much all I watched as kid, which may explain alot) -Whatever everyone else is watching...
POSTCARDS
I also sew and collage, but I don't think I really want to do any kind of swapping with those. I can't draw, but have recently discovered that ANYONE can do zentagle/mandala type of stuff, so I apologize in advance if I send you weird doodles. I have recently quit smoking for the hundredth time and the doodles might save my life, so please don't take points away for my crappy art, just know that you are helping me save my own life.
