Description:

Welcome to the first "Big Meaty Parcel" Swap!

Big Meaty Parcels (BMPs) are meant to be bigger and more elaborate than the ever-so-cool (but smaller) Lucky Parcels. You will want to create a lovely package with items fitting the theme. For this swap, the theme is Fruits & Veggies.

In order to participate, you must be a current member of the BMP Flickr group, have a 4.8 rating when the swap starts and have a link to your Flickr album in your Swap-bot profile; users who don't meet these requirements may be removed without notice. (Sharing the swap link and password with non-group members is not allowed.)

There are absolute minimums, but members are free to send more. There are no price minimums; however, there are package minimums, as stated in the guidelines, here. If you do not send the minimum, you could be given a low rating, which could disallow you from participating in future swaps. After you've met all the minimums in the other categories and added one wildcard, feel free to add as many others as you want.

Everyone will have one partner. The swap is international, and there is no way to control where your partner will live, so keep the cost of postage in mind. Please don't join if you don't think you can meet this commitment. It is perfectly fine to only join swaps that you know you can fulfill.

Categories

  • Fabric: Total 1/2 yard (45.72 cm) of standard-width -- 1 - 4 pieces total (one 1/2 yard, two fat quarters, four fat eighths, or a combination).

  • Ribbon (includes ric-rac): 3 yards (2.74 m) total. Could be spool or individual cuts (no pieces smaller than 1 yard (91.44 cm)) -- check the yardage on your spool -- I've bought some without checking and found them to only have 4 feet.

  • Notions: (thread, needles, pins, etc.) -- 1 full-size item. If your partner knits or crochets, accessories for those crafts would be acceptable.

  • Buttons/Beads: Reasonable number of either (or both!), depending on size, quality, and how elaborate they are.

  • Stationery item: Something to write on or write with

  • Treat: Something edible (gum, candy, other snacks). Note: chocolate doesn't always travel well; check your partner's location.

  • Wildcard: One wildcard item is required. After that, anything goes. A wildcard item can be anything that doesn't fit into one of these categories.

Don't forget the packaging. No requirements as to size, shape, material, etc., but the items need to be packaged. Make 'em pretty, fun, etc. Make sure your Flickr ID (and Swap-bot ID, if different) are included.

Do your level best to mail on time, taking pictures of your completed package before mailing (it's fine to post pics any time). When you get your package, please take a picture and post to the sent/recieved thread for that swap. AND rate your partner, keeping the requirements in mind. If your partner met the minimums, you should give them top rating. Note that matching your likes/dislikes are not mandatory. Hearts are optional -- they are used for people who send above the minimums (or tailor the package to your likes/dislikes). If your partner did not meet the minimums, do not feel obligated to give the highest rating.
