Description:

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for a recommendation for a book. They are so expensive I don't want to waste my money on one I don't like. You'll have 2 partners and you'll send out one list to each of your top 10 reads. Give a little explanation as to why you liked it. Sort of like a little book club!

I am so excited about this swap! I love getting reading recommendations from strangers you really find out a lot about a person by what they like to read.

jbtmykids 09/27/2006 #

I agree Lauren! I have met more people simply because I always have a book and have my nose stuck in it! Everyone wants to know a good author.

Jennifer 10/ 1/2006 #

I've already finished my recommendations. This was a lot of fun. :)

So many choices. I'm having so much fun making my decisions. If you like swap-bot and you like to read, try checking out FrugalReader.com. It's pretty cool there.

just a question: how do you set up 2 partners through swap-bot? I've tried before on a swap I organized and couldn't :/

Drachenfrau 10/10/2006 #

Hello, is this via snail mail or email?

jbtmykids 10/10/2006 #

This is through snail mail.

jbtmykids 10/10/2006 #

When starting a swap, Swap-bot gives you a choice of how many partners you want each participant to have. Maybe you skipped past that one?

jbtmykids 10/10/2006 #

I checked out Frugal Reader. Great site! I signed up.

I'd be happy to have more than 2 partners for this. Once I get it done, it's just a matter of photocopying it again and again, which is easy.

Drachenfrau 10/11/2006 #

Yes that's true. I'd be happy too.

I'm up for more than two partners. Also, here's another great book site:

www.bookcrossing.com

It is super fun- check it out if you haven't. If you're there you can find me under the name emmagoldmanzine.

I have a question. If I increase the # of partners, will everyone know?

Zmrzlina 10/13/2006 #

jbtmykids... you can send an email to everyone who is already signed up. If you click on the "View complete list of swap participants" link you will see all the email addresses at the end of the list (visible to swap host only). That way you can give a heads up if you increase the number of participants.

I would prefer only 2 because I had something specific in mind for this swap and would not want to create it more than two times, but the majority seem want more partners so I can wait for another swap to use the idea I came up with.

Firefly 10/14/2006 #

I would prefer only 2 as well, as I thought of something specific also but like zmrzlina I can save it for another time...majority rules. :)

Hi everyone! I've tried to email everyone, but some of you are returning the message, so I'm just writing to let you know I'm going to keep the # of partners at 2. This is what everyone originally signed on for and it seems to be a 50/50 on more or less partners. Have a great day! Jane

I am excited to do this swap. I love to see what other people are reading.

Zmrzlina 10/14/2006 #

Thank you for keeping the partner number the same. I have now started my two projects so I have them finished before the deadline. Very excited to see the lists I get in return.

I love what I am creating and it has been quite refreshing to spend time writing mini-reviews. I haven't done that in ages! Too much time writing postcards and making ATCs, I guess. Made me realize how long it has been since I've spent time on my BookCrossing bookshelf.

I dropped my letters in the box this evening and they will be on there way tomorrow. One going to Arcata, CA, and the other to Madison, WI.

I know my swap partners don't know who I am, but I want to apologize to them in advance for not mailing the letters as of today. The envelopes are ready to go, but I haven't been able to make it to the post office. Tomorrow is a slow day at work, so I'm definitely making a trip to the post office on my lunch break.

deedeenet 10/28/2006 #

I received my letter, thank you!

Many apologies to my swap partners for posting my letters a little late. I was off work and had to hand-write the letters as I don't have a computer at home :-(

Zmrzlina 10/30/2006 #

Received both my partners' lists. Thank you Sara and Kate (more in private message).

Both my envelopes were returned to me today because I messed up simple arithmetic and didn't have enough postage on the envelopes. My partners will understand how that happened when they get their envelopes, which will go out again tomorrow. I will message both of them so they are aware of the delay.

This message is for Wren on the Run, I couldn't find your email address. I loved the list you sent me. I'm really looking forward to reading these books. I'm so glad that I did this swap!

deedeenet 10/31/2006 #

To my swap buddies,

Please contact me via email or on my blog with your contact information. I'd love to give you some feedback on the books that you suggested to me.

Thank you for sending me your lists!
