Description:

I think it would be so fun for kids to compile a package about the town/city that they live in and swap it with another child from another location. This is a great way to start a pen pal relationship or for your child to learn about another location through a child's eyes.

I am open to ages of the children but I am thinking at least ages 4 or 5 and up. The rules of this swap are to fill enevople up with things from the area that your child lives such as a photo of their favorite playground, candy or small snack from a local store, rocks from a nearby lake, a bird's feather from their yard, postcards from your town, a pressed flower from the community garden, etc.

I'd really like this to be a creative and thoughtful swap. Feel free to have your kids personalize the packages with their art or photos. Have them tell stories about their favorite place and help them write it out if need be. Just have fun and share your town!

Each package should weigh at least 5 ounces which would cost $1.35 within the US. I am keeping this open to international swappers too. You can have your packages weigh more, that is up to you. Please comment with any questions. This is my first time organizing a swap so I may have left some information out :)

I have 4 boys, but I am going to do this with my 7yr old son as he needs to do something to improve his social skills with other children.

Thanks!

My daughter is ten and would love this. But I wonder if it would be possible to match her with someone around her age?

Sparkly - From what I understand Swap- Bot chooses the swap partners. I am not sure what I could do as far as making sure each partner receives a child around the same age. Any ideas I am coming up with seem too complicated and I am trying to think of the best way to keep the swapping as smooth as possible. I e-mailed Swap - Bot to see if I could choose partners so I will get back to you.

Hopefully all of the participants in the swap have read your e-mail and whoever gets you for a partner will send something that will be appropriate for your child's age.

My daughter is 10 and is looking forward to learning about another town and culture. She plays soccer and enjoys setting up school for the neighborhood kids. She also enjoys swimming and sewing. Can't wait!

Great advice Tod :)

Hi Martha! Thanks for signing up, I think this is going to be fun. My daughter will be six in about three months. She is compiling things here and there for her partner.

My son is 8 and likes stuffed animals, tap dancing, pug dogs and graphic novels/ zines & comics (really... I'm not making this up, I couldn't if I tried). He also likes learning about other places and would really like anything about Japan or France. He loves to travel... although we don't have enough money for international travel at this point. Thanks in advance to his partner.

Sean is 7.5yrs old and is a living miracle. He has several severe chronic illnesses, yet never complains. Sean loves to learn about other places and things. Sean has food allergies and choking issues due to birth defects, so please do not send food or anything with latex. He is very excited about gathering things for his partner with things from where we live.

Emily will be 6 years old in December. She loves just about everything! Emily's favorite thing to do is make things with her art supplies. She enjoys animals, parks, flowers, and anything colorful. Just receiving mail will put a giant smile on her face.

Preston is 6 and in 1st grade. He loves sports and plays golf and baseball almost every day. He is really excited about getting to participate, we plan on going on a Jacksonville scavenger hunt for fun things for the swap on Saturday.

Am I the only one with an oder boy here? Jon will be 12 in October. He enjoys basketball and anything basketball related (he plays on many teams), sports video games, books about adventures and sports and music.

Please don't send any food items, we have some allergies.

My daughter is 10 and loves all things crafty. She knits and spin her wool into yarn. She collects coins and rocks. She really has an interest in other places so finding out about the area her partner is from will be fun for her. She plays the viola and loves goofy CDs like Dog train and Philadelphia Chickens. She is not allegic to anything so no need to worry about that.

My Son is 7 years old, and in the first grade. This will be fun for him as he loves to find about different towns and how things are different then our town. Brenden LOVES Yugioh that is his life. He plays soccer. And is a very good Big Brother. He does anything that his sister wants him to do (she is 3). He likes to color, build things, find bugs a true boy. He has NO food allergis so that is something that you dont have to worry about.
