Description:

I just used this technique for the first time on a recent tag and ATC and it is too cool! You will need one of the texture fades embossing folders, some distress or archival inks, and some stamped images.

Tim used this in last year's 12 tags of Christmas (on tag #6). Here is a video of the technique Pay attention to the second half of this video -- the part with the tall pines.

You will need a texture fade folder that has a large blank part on it (a large negative space). You can use one of TH's four big folders (tall pines, branched tree, bullrushes, or pumpkins) or one of his new smaller ATC sized folders (old jalopy, mini steampunk gears, man with umbrella). Or you can use any other embossing folder with lots of negative space (like the one I choose to use). You will be stamping on the side of the folder that has a recessed design.

TH says to use distress inks for the stamping. I used archival inks and had no problems with them drying too quickly.

You can use any stamped image you like. BUT if you want to use text you MUST use the backwards text from the #111 stamp set. Your image will be reversed on the ATC.

Step 1: Stamp image directly onto the embossing folder -- on the side with the recessed image.

Step 2: Run your paper and embossing folder through the embossing machine of your choice.

Step 3: Color your background with various layers and shades of distress ink (to help your embossed image pop a bit more).

Step 4: Embellish your ATC.

Here is a close up of this technique You can see the text is on the background and not on the leaves or bird silhouette.

Distress ink the embossed part to make it "pop"

Requirements:

1 ATC for each of 2 partners (2 ATCs total)

Great swap idea..I unfortunately don't have one of the folders that you mentioned. Can we use any folder with a large negative space that is similar or does it have to be one that you listed?

You can use any of the TH folders listed (those are the only ones I know of with big negative space although there might be others). But you can use ANY embossing folder you want! The one I used -- in the example shown -- is not a TH design. But it does have a big area of negative space as so it worked well. Please -- everyone join in -- whether or not you have the TH designs!

ok...I am the only dork in the group who can't read English apparently...lol...you mention that you tried it on a tag and an ATC but this swap is only for one ATC correct?

Thanks! I hadn't made that part clear. 1 ATC for each of 2 partners (2 ATCs total). This is such a great group I get lazy with my long list of usual requirements. But I had not made that very clear.

All of my technique swaps will be for ATCs.
