Description:

The faire is coming to town! Come one, come all but don't ignore the call!

Note: Please read over this swap carefully, it's not complicated I just like to explain everything with as much detail as I can, but make sure you read all the criteria before signing up.

This is the seventh in what will be a series of swaps based on the old traveling faires. Whether gypsies, a troupe of entertainers or players, whatever names they were called by, they would set up tents just on the outskirts of town and sell their wares, read fortunes, play instruments, and entertain! They would also sell things for the children, potions to cure aliments, weapons, jewelry and so much more. Just a simple faire but something new and exciting nonetheless!

Your experience continues here...

After selecting the perfect stone and finding just the right item of jewelry to show it off, you feel energized and confident about starting your new vocation as an actor! However, the journeys are long and tiresome from town to town, what will you do to pass the time? As your round the corner you walk into a section of the faire you didn't see before...it was hidden behind the main pub tent, why a Booksellers tent! It's perfect! You can purchase a book to read on your long travels. Walking into the tent you know this day has your destiny wrapped up in it!

This will be a simple swap. For this swap you will send your partner an arcane book. This book may be bought or handmade.

If you choose to buy a store bought book make sure it is valued between $10-$15. You may buy used only if it is in like new condition, please send something nice, no torn covers, water stains, creased spines, etc. The subject matter should be along the lines of the metaphysical/arcane. For example, a book on runes, stones, tarot, scrying, ogham, the dreamscape, or anything pertaining to medieval folk lore/supernatural phenomena, or even a history or accounting of these events or methods. If you have a preference of subject matter you may list it and your partner may choose to buy a book on that topic, however I will leave this sender's choice as some members have limited resources in their area.

If you choose to make a book, please keep in mind it should be quality. I am sorry if I seem firm on this but slapping a book together with minimal effort will not cut it for this swap. It should have a value of at least $15 were you to sell it say on Etsy, or any other shop...something you would be proud to sell or receive. I would say make it at least 5x7in size or larger. Alter a journal or make your own book. Fill it with beautiful examples of metaphysical art, themes and information and leave some blank pages in back for your partner to use as well. This should be one-of-a-kind and put a smile on the face of your partner. If your book does not show obvious care and time spent on making it your partner may rate you a 3 as these are swap requirements for this option.

For an example of a quality book made by a member of this group please click here and here and finally here. These are but a few photos of this extraordinary journal. Now, I know this level is extremely high quality and not everyone is capable of producing such work as @Rie60 but this should give you an idea and to inspire you to make something truly special for your partner if you choose this option.

I hope many of you will join this swap, either way you should receive a great book to read or a special one made just for you! If you choose to make a book make it because you want to. Please realise you may receive a store bought book in return and hopefully it will be one you have been wanting! The reason I am giving these two options is I know some of you have been wanting to try your hand at another book or journal swap and this will give you that opportunity without excluding those who are not able to make one.

Also, please include a note on why you "bought" this particular book from the bookseller, what caught your eye? And what did the bookseller tell you about the book if anything? Did he make you a good offer, or told you the book possessed old and arcane spells or powers? It does not have to be an extensive explanation but a brief, interesting note would be fun!

This is a group swap so everyone should be trustworthy and should have the minimum rating of 4.9, which is the group requirement. I will say this now - if you flake on a group swap you will be dropped from the group. Also, if you are going to be late even by a day please pm your partner to let them know it's just common courtesy...I understand life happens!

I will allow plenty of time to research/craft/complete as I know life can be a bit hectic.

Any questions or comments, please leave them below or pm me.

Have fun with this and let us entertain each other as there is still plenty more faire to enjoy!

I love books on witchcraft, herbs or candle making, scrying and folk lore, also anything to do with the dreamscape would be fun too! Thank you!

You are so welcome! Hope you can join, if not maybe next time, we will have more "book" themed swaps later on. Your journal is an inspiration.

Any type of book is fine with me! I love reading and learning new things or escaping to different worlds.

Alright I'm jumping into this one too! I am interested in creating a book, but am not guaranteeing one in case I have found a super cool one at a store. ^_^ I like magic, folk tales and faeries, divination, herbs and oils, general artistry and ancient gods and goddesses (especially Egyptian or Celtic, but Greek and Roman are cool too!).
