Part of the fun of a group like this is finding new authors to read. For this swap, you'll receive a book to read and share a book you like with someone else! This should be a YA title published within the last 30 years The book can be any genre The book may be store bought or gently used, just so long as it's in clean salable condition (meaning no excessively battered or grimy copies, musty or smoke odors, etc) Please include a brief note explaining why you like and are sending the book! If you're sending a book that's part of series, it MUST be the first volume in that series, unless your partner has specifically indicated he/she is looking for a later one. There will be plenty of time between signup and send by date so that you can look for something fun and inexpensive at a library sale, thrift store, etc. This is a sender's choice swap with the idea that you'll be sharing a book you've enjoyed with someone else and surprised by another book in return. It's always great to see what other people like to read, and perhaps you'll receive something new to fall in love with, too. Edited to Add: Just a reminder that YA is generally considered books written for ages 12 - 18. If you're thinking about sending a book that has teen appeal but might be written more for adults due to mature themes, sex, etc, (think Chicagoland Vamps or Sookie Stackhouse) please check to see if your partner is okay with it! The answer, judging by the favorite book lists I have seen, is most likely yes--but if you're unsure, please ask your partner.

Can advanced copies of already published (or still yet to be published books) be sent? I have a stack of ARCs-some that are out, some that aren't. I'd love to spread the love for some!

Incidentally, I'd love for this to become a series of swaps in the future--with different genres featured, such as paranormal, dystopian, etc, etc, so...keep an eye out for bargain books to swap as you're thrifting!

@andrealeeanne Don't forget that you can use Media Mail to ship this within the U.S. since it's a paper/book item--that should keep the costs fairly reasonable.

@Doyle I definitely want to do more of these, though I'm not sure if it will be monthly...so feel free to run with the idea and create your own book swap, too!

How open is everyone to older YA books? I am starting to get in to some new YA novels mainly through my teenager, but I have some books that I read in the 80's that I still love to this day! Yes I am old,lol! I know it does say senders choice and the last 30 years, but I still dont' want to send my partner something that they will hate (:

@Tjrenee Why don't we agree that if that this is sender's choice--but if we want to try to please our partners, we'll go ahead and contact our individual partners to ask! I'd rather people didn't have to search this whole thread to find out answers.

Also, just a reminder that YA is generally considered books written for ages 12 - 18. If you're thinking about sending a book that has teen appeal but might be written more for adults due to mature themes, sex, etc, please check to see if your partner is okay with it.

One good indicator that the book might be one of those that straddles the line: if the main character is 18 or older/in college/etc. Examples of books that fall into this category are the Chicagoland Vampire series, Sookie Stackhouse, etc. Adding this to the group info for clarity, too.
