Description:

When I found this awesome tutorial, I just knew we had to have swaps for them!

This is the 5th altered ribbon spool swap for this group. Use the tutorial as a guide, you may adjust it to allow for your own creative touch! I found the lid much easier to attach with ribbon than a brad.

So, here's what you do. Make one Altered Ribbon Spool Box for your partner. Fill it with inexpensive little things, like buttons, ribbon, bows, stickers, tags, etc. - you know, like you would fill a matchbox. Quality craftwork only. Send something you would love to have and are proud to send.

Guidelines: Must have been rated for 10 separate snail mail swaps, 4.95 rating or higher, all unresolved 1's or 3's will be closely reviewed. Known non-raters may also be banned. I will ban anyone that I feel might not be able to fulfill the swap requirements.

Sender's choice, but make sure your profile is WELL filled out - just in case your partner wants to send profile based items.

I also have a more detailed tutorial on how to make these on a public file sharing website, you can access it here: Ribbon Spools Tutorial

Can anyone provide some better instructions on how to attach the lid with a piece of ribbon-it is not clear on any tutorials I've found and I wanted to add this to my tutorial. Feel free to PM with a link to a website with instructions for this or just some general step by step instructions. Thanks!

This is how I explained it to @Amigirl

My best results have been using ribbon. I cut a slit on the bottom part right where the ring part of the spool meets the bottom round piece. I thread a piece of ribbon through it. Then on the top round piece I punched two small holes to pull the ribbon through to the top of the spool. Once the ribbon is pulled through I tie it in a little bow.

I'll PM this info to you @PaperMoments

Are you going to host a ribbon spool swap every month? I think you should keep this going! I love doing these. If not, let me know, I could host one this summer with a theme. . .and of course I'll credit you in the description with a link back to your profile. Are you okay with that?

Yes this works. My first spool box is pretty, but maybe a little bit crooked because I tried about 6 ways to attach the lid before I asked for help..lol. I hope my partner likes it!

I just started theme a few months ago and plan on keeping them as a series. If you are interested @PaperMoments perhaps you could host for me on my vacation month. And then the next month I would host again. Kind of like having a guest speaker, or something. LOL. It would be fun to rotate a different host in every once in a while, just to keep things interesting. :)

That sounds great! I'd be willing to help out. Any new pictures yet and that awesome ribbon technique for the lid??
