I keep seeing the "International Pen Pal" swaps limited to just one person per country. While I understand the reason for these, I'm always sad because my country is taken right away, usually by the creator! So I'm going to open this up to an astounding ... FIVE per country. :) Depending on how many sign up, you will run the risk of being partnered with somebody from your own country (but who says "local" pen pals can't be just as fun?). If you're still interested, there are two requirements: 1.) Write a letter to your partner. The letter should at least take up one side of a page of stationery ("page" loosely defined as something at least bigger than a post-it note!), but beyond that, the length is your choice. Just remember, you're trying to develop a new friendship! 2.) "Represent" your country -- or state, if that's the case -- with three small items. A postcard, a brochure, menu, bag of tea, whatever you think is interesting about where you live. Give your partner not only a sense of YOU, but of your home turf! You will have 2 partners (that's why, again, you should keep the items mentioned in #2 small and easy to mail, to keep postage down ... if you click with your new pen pal(s), you can always send more gifts later!). Only those with at least 5 non-email swaps are allowed -- I might make an exception for enthusiastic newbies with detailed profiles... Let me know if you have questions! I hope this is a fun swap! Oh, and one of the USA spots is taken. :-) |
