Description:

This should be alot of fun. This is a way to send and receive some St. Patrick's Day cards with some neat postmarks.

You will get 3 St. Patrick's Day cards (store bought or handmade - standard greeting card size). Write a St. Patrick's Day greeting/poem in the card and mail to 3 partners. You will in turn receive cards from 3 partners - all with special postmarks.

You will then address them and stamp them like normal to each of your partners. Seasonal stamps are fun, but not required.

Before you mail them, pick a place from below list and put all of these envelopes into a bigger envelope addressed in this form:

Postmaster - St. Patrick's Day Remailing - City, State Zip Code (from list)

And you ONLY change the last line to one of the following:

(ST. PATRICK'S DAY)

Dublin CA 94568 GA 31021 IN 47335 MS 38739 NH 03444 NC 28332 OH 43016 PA 18917 TX 76446 VA 24084

Ireland IN 47545 WV 26376

St. Patrick MO 63466

Shamrock OK 74068 TX 79079

Then you mail the ONE envelope like normal, and the PO you are sending to will do the rest! (You DO need the correct postage on the outside envelope so please make sure you get that correct as just one stamp there will not suffice.) You will have 1 week to obtain, address, and mail your large envelope with 3 cards inside to post office selected.

USA only. 4.8 and up for rating with one completed swap required. No recent 1's or 3's please. No flakers. This is such an easy swap....if you don't think you can meet requirements, please do not join.

*If your cards arrive slightly after St. Patrick's Day due to re-mailing, please do not rate down for this. If you receive a card - rate a 5. Feel free to include a postcard, a sheet of stickers, or a tea bag if you would like - although, it is not required. It is simply a way to do something nice for your partner to get that heart. Smile. If you do not mail as directed and do not obtain special cancellation/postmark - you may get rated down for this. I reserve the right to ban anyone with recent 1's or 3's or if you have not been online regularily prior to swap. I want this swap to be a big success! I cannot angle for flakers.

If you have any questions - please ask! ~~ :)

This is great because my parents live in Dublin Ohio. Too bad I missed the valentines one. My husbands parents live in Loveland, Ohio (which is where we got married).

Ironically, I am going to Dublin Georgia this weekend. Smile.

I found this website with examples of holiday postmarks. It looks like it hasn't been updated since about 2002, but it does give you an idea of the cities that use a special postmark for that holiday. All the asterisked towns do something more than just the city's name.

(I do want to note, however, that it looks like at least some cities change up their special graphic on a yearly basis -- the Valentine, TX postmark I got this year was very different from the one they have on this site.)

Forgot to click send until today, but dropped the envelope in the mail yesterday afternoon. I hope my partners like their cards!

Has anyone else started receiving their cards yet? I sent mine all together with some other cards I was mailing out, and my fiance received his a week ago. However, my partners, whose cards were in the same bundled envelope with his, haven't rated me for the cards I've sent them, nor have I received from anyone else yet, either. It seems like it didn't take nearly this long to receive when I was doing similar Valentine's Day postmark swaps.

Hi Craftsgasm:

I am having the same problem. I mailed mine on 3/1 and none I sent from the same envelope have been received yet. I sent personal cards as well and also from one other swap in that envelope. NONE have been received. :( I am so sad & disappointed. I have no idea what the problem is. I did receive 2 cards and both were postmarked from St. Patrick, MO. That is where I mailed mine to. Don't know if they got backed up or technical difficulties (?!) It is most certainly disappointing. No, the Valentine's Day postmark did NOT take this long, but also - we mailed to another city for that one, too. I don't know what to do. At some point, I guess we will have to re-mail. I am beyond words. It has been well over 2 weeks since I mailed & even in re-mailing, they should have arrived by now.

Mine were sent to the Ireland, Indiana post office. I wouldn't think it was as weird as I do, except that one of the seven cards sent to Ireland, IN for cancellation has made it back to me with its special shamrock postmark. So why would only one get through (and we got that back a couple of weeks ago) and none of the rest? It's so bizarre.

Received my first card from this swap -- maybe some of the post offices waited until St. Patrick's Day to postmark them? This one came from Shamrock, OK (a gorgeous card from @shawkers ). Hopefully they'll all be arriving soon!
