Your month in comic form

Are we expecting great art, or will stick figures do?

When you say "send to your 2 partners", does it mean photocopying for one of them is OK, or should it be drawn twice?

I wanted to clarify mine, if I were to join, I'd do my very best and it wouldn't be just thrown together, but I canNOT draw, so I would use stick figures.

It would still be something I'd like to receive, I just don't want my partners to be disappointed when they get a stick figure comic strip.

I don't mind stick figures! I will not be disappointed.

Hey, don't worry about drawing skills! I think the idea behind this one is to share your month's experiences with your partners. There are a couple of great "comic strips" on the net that feature stick figures.

So, don't fear drawing...rather think of it as sharing your month.

savannah - i embrace my stick figure ability. there are lots of famous cartoonists that just do stick people. check out "happy noodle boy" by jhonen vasquez or any animation by don hertzfeld.

Also, I'm wondering about the 2 partners thing?

@pahasiga - draw them out twice, if i got a printed copy i'd feel a bit ripped off =/ ..this also means you could send two slightly different ones! (if inclined to do so)

stick figures are fine! lots of big comic artists are just made out of stick figures

I thought the same that I would feel ripped off... but to draw twice? Beh.

one big shout out: if you decide to copy (just saying IF):

• only use fineliner / big black felt pen or a really dark ball pen.
• pencils (certainly the 8H or 8B) will be hard to see when copied.
• highlighters will vanish under a scanner

when you're out of time to draw a second copy, you'd really regret not using a fineliner :s

yeah i agree with @Charis - if you HAVE to just copy/print again then go for it, but don't use too much dark shading also, that can have good effects on some printers, but terrible outcomes on some..this is from self experince,.pencil will most certainly vanish in a print, don't risk it. use a nice black pen/sharpie/ink!

Yeah I don't think I'll be drawing twice. Most likely I'll make this into a small zine so I can copy it en masse.

I like to make large drawings and copy /scan them to a smaller size. I do not think my swap partner would enjoy 7 messy A4 sheets more than a neat little zine!

Yeah, is it okay to make it a zine? Like annan said above, I don't think that would be a problem with anyone, at least I wouldn't have a problem with it.

@annan - the problem with shriking large pages is that the words become very hard to read. you can of course just send large pages if you want. Zines are totally welcomed!!!

Q1: does "your month" point to February or can I start today? Q2: Should the panel include the date (probably optional but also easy for me and others)?

... I'll probably make a zine as well... I like to draw ^^
