Description:

Altered Recipe Card Swap - Christmas Cookie Edition (International)

I saw altered recipe cards in the May/June 2007 issue of "Cloth, Paper, Scissors" magazine, and haven’t been able to get them out of my mind since.

Basically, altered recipe cards are like artist trading cards, except are 4x6 inches, include a recipe, and both sides are decorated. In the magazine, the altered cards were encased in clear vinyl which included little loose bits called “floaters.

For this swap:

•We will each have three partners to whom we will send an original altered recipe card measuring 4x6 inches.

•Include a tried and true favorite COOKIE recipe on each card, either handwritten or typed. It can be the same or different for each partner, but make it a recipe you’ve had success making before, maybe a family favorite.

•You are NOT required to encase the card in vinyl as in the magazine article, but you must include some sort of 3-D element, such as charms, ribbons, etc., on each card.

•Both sides of the card should be decorated.

•Sign ups close October 21, 2007. Completed cards should be sent by November 12, 2007, so the recipient can try the recipes out for the holidays!

•You don't have to be a professional artist or chef, just have Fun!

Please don’t sign up if you don’t plan to participate. I do plan to ban questionable swappers, but if one should slip by and you do not receive after an adequate amount of time (remember, international mail takes longer), let me know and, if contacting the swapper myself doesn’t result in a card, I’ll send you one of mine! If you feel you are unfairly banned, please let me know as well; we all make mistakes.

For information on the original vinyl encased altered recipe cards, see: http://clothpaperscissors.com/cpsmag/extras/artful_ingredients.html

Let me know if there are any questions. I can’t wait. I’ve set aside a 4x6 photo album just for these!
