Description:

[Edited -- extended sign-up period only] By December I've usually had about all the "Holiday Cheer" I can stand. From the incessant and repetitive music to the gaudy overload of flash and sparkle everywhere, I begin to really HATE this time of year. (On a gut- level, I so totally LOVE it all, but....) So, how about you and I have a moment or two of "Scrooge"-ness and just be prickly, grumpy, & grouchy, without apology? It'll give us a little stress relief AND maybe a small, irreverent giggle too.

Send 2 partners a very small package with at least 3 items carrying a "prickly" anti-holiday theme. You might include some "barbs" in this DEcelebration: pins, needles, fake barbed wire (i've seen it!), silk cactus leaves, black mittens with thumbtacks poking out from inside the fingertips. Sugar-free candy? (Who needs more sweetness when the whole world has gone icky with it?) Fake snow? (Those of us living in the warm parts of the world get really sick of all that SNOW worship.)

Make it silly. Make it fun. LET GO OF SOME OF THE STRESS. Send/share whatever conveys your general weariness with all things HOLIDAY.

Best of all, in true "Scrooge" fashion, keep the cost (before postage) to ZERO, nothing, nada, zilch! SPEND NO MONEY. Scavenge your closets, raid your attic, borrow or beg from friends, but DO NOT support the shopping madness. :)

TEH RULES: *Flaking out, failing to send IS NOT part of the whole Scrooge-y theme! If you don't want to give/send, don't sign up. I WILL CHECK PROFILES/ratings. *No mold, mildew, or other gross-outs!! Do not send what you'd be insulted to receive. *Keep the package small...the postal people are stressing out too! *READ/FOLLOW customs restrictions. (Look for my "handy links" in the Comments section below.) *I will not angel this swap. (Scrooge wouldn't either.)

Woo hoo!!! Count me in - I'm already feelin' it! The stores around here started putting out the Christmas stuff 2 weeks ago :/ I love Christmas/Winter Solstice (I celebrate both), but I get really sick and tired of the we-need-to-get-another-mortgage-on-the-house-so-that-we-can-fill-it-to-the-rafters-with-expensive-gifts-otherwise-the-kids-our-family-and-friends-won't-love-us-anymore mentally. See, I'm already prickly!

krazypoodle, you rule because you so "get it." I was cringing last night standing in an elevator because the speaker was pumping out "we wish you a Merry.........." ALREADY !! ?? !!

THAT is what triggered my creating this swap. I could feel the prickly-heat rising. So I "blew off some steam" via Swap-bot. :P

Totally understandable, Cad Lady. Where is that elevator and what minion of Satan decided that it was time to play Christmas music! I really love this time of year and the holidays we celebrate (including my anniversary) but here is my burning question - what the heck happened to Halloween and Thanksgiving? Halloween has now morphed into "Christmas: The Dress Rehearsal- spend huge amounts of money on costumes so that you can roam the countryside for two nights shaking-down the inhabitants for free candy and gifts" and Thanksgiving is now "Let's gorge ourselves and go to sleep early so that we can get up at 3 a.m. to be the first ones to buy the toy that our little angel needs to see first thing Christmas morning otherwise his/her head will explode" I know I sound super crabby, and really, I'm not, but I'm really disappointed in what our holidays have become for a good number of people. There's my rant. Maybe I should temporarily change my name to pricklypoodle :)

I spend all year waiting for Halloween then as of Nov 1st I start dreading. I've been in stores where one side of the aisle is halloween and the other is Christmas - my eyes about bugged out of my head. I can't always get away from it here (in my neighborhood) because apparently there's a icecream truck that plays Jingle Bells alllllll year long. I've never been crazy christmas but I've enjoyed it. As I get older I hate it more and more. Bah Humbug.

Y'all are just so much fun!
Spread the word! The grousing begins HERE!

Okay...if you look at my profile you might be wondering what the heck I am doing here. Winter Wonderland is the one I am hosting b/c I love the winter season...but who in the hell decided that Christmas music was appropriate before Halloween?!? I heard it the other day--over and over--when I was shopping and already I can feel my eyes beginning to bleed..... I want to finish celebrating the autumn in all it's glory and the family fest known as Thanksgiving before I want to hear that sugary pap. I refuse to enjoy the Christmas season until December 1st. But I still like snow on Thanksgiving...

Caam, you are OUR kind of people! :)

It is so nice that you are here. I'm glad to find cohorts in grumpiness. S.A.D. is a great excuse for it, but really my seasonal nasty comes from repetitive bombardment of those "tunes" in every shop. ARGH! (Silence is golden, after all. LOL)

Anyway, Swap Partners are now assigned. Send by date is 22 Dec. Enjoy choosing your "emblems of irritation" and sending them out to your partners. I've had my "prickly packages" ready for a bit, but found a couple of "last minute" things to drop in, so I'm glad I didn't seal 'em up and send them over the weekend. LOL

I will be sending them out tomorrow morning, however.

I hope you'll enjoy this swap, a let loose a little !@#$%^& and such feelings. ha ha ha

I know I already have! (All together now, let's see some SCOWLy faces behind all those giggles!!)
