Description:

The idea for this swap originated with janeengland, and she has agreed to let me continue a monthly version of it even though she is not currently participating. Since it was a huge success the last three months, let’s do it again for November! This swap is a fun and creative way to share some pieces of your life with someone else . . . and to experience some of theirs.

To begin, you will need a journal of any size but no smaller then 5" x 7" and it must have at least 32 pages in it. On the first page you will tell your partner a bit about yourself, where you live, your interests, etc. Then, date the rest of the pages from November 1st through November 30th. You will then attach an artifix to each page for that day. For the purpose of this journal, an artifix is a keepsake of an event or a piece of ephemera from a day in your life. We’ll be collecting these items each day for a month and sharing them with our assigned partner along with a description of how we came across the item, why it was meaningful to us for that day, etc. So, it could be an appointment card from an appointment you had one day along with a description of what the appointment was for, a menu with a few sentences about what you selected from the menu that day, a receipt for something you purchased on one of the days along with a picture and a description of what you bought, or it could be a bus/train ticket along with a description about where you traveled to. If the writing on the artifix is not in English, you must translate it so it is. You MUST also write a few sentences about how you got the artifix. You are welcome to get as creative as you like in linking descriptions/pictures to the artifix, but please don’t include anything that your partner may find offensive. IMPORTANT: PLEASE USE DIFFERENT ITEMS FOR EACH DAY. THERE SHOULD NOT BE 30 OF THE SAME ITEM!

Participants must have a rating of 4.9 or higher. Anyone with a rating lower than 4.9, a history of any no sends, or anyone with a 1 or 3 in the last 3 months will be banned. Also, if you're new to swap-bot (less than 90 days), please contact me before signing up.

Any questions please let me know.

I'm really enjoying making my October one so I'm up for it again.

can the journal be handmade (good quality of course!)?

SueEileen 10/13/2010 #

jaakel . . . it sure can . . as long as it's at least 5x7 and has at least 31 pages in it for your introduction and daily entries.

I enjoyed the last one, but I found it difficult to find a different thing each day.. it seems my life is so routine and the same day after day.. I didn't notice that until I did the Sept Artifix Journal!! :)

I agree...I would love to do this but an artifix from everyday? I'll have to think about this one a little while....good idea though!
