Description:

After finding so many great pieces of vintage ephemera in some antique stores, I have quite a bit to swap now!

For this swap, we will send our partner at least 10 different pieces of vintage ephemera and 10 different pieces of other ephemera. The second 10 pieces can be vintage, new or unknown. That makes at least 20 pieces we will send and receive!

Any of the following are okay to send:

  • book or ledger pages (any vintage or new foreign)
  • magazine ads (vintage only)
  • tickets/stubs to places (not just tickets for drawings)
  • photographs (vintage only)
  • vintage drink coasters
  • maps (or portions thereof, larger than 6x6")
  • stamps (vintage or postmarked)
  • labels (not torn, though they can be worn)
  • vintage letters, deeds, stickers, playing cards, game pieces
  • old keys, charms or random metal pieces
  • vintage cookbooks (the small soft-cover kind) or pages from vintage cookbooks
  • vintage sewing patterns or pieces thereof
  • piece of vintage fabric
  • vintage postcards
  • vintage craft instructions
  • neat matchbooks or bottle caps (vintage or not)
  • airmail envelopes, old postmarked envies

You get the idea! We all know what's considered vintage & what's not, so only send items you would really like to receive. If anyone has more ideas, please post below in the comments section.

As far as what's not okay to send in this swap, DO NOT SEND: coins, tickets for drawings, beads, religious items, tiny, useless pieces of non-vintage paper ephemera and buttons. Please don't send more than 2 of the same piece/item, for example, don't send 3 or more postage stamps, (unless you're counting that as 1 item), or all postcards or pages from the same book (or all book pages for that matter) , or all photographs, etc. Try to send a good variety of things. Because most of the items will be vintage, their condition might be questionable/fragile. Please package accordingly. You cannot/should not be rated down if the item(s) look old & worn - again, this is mostly a vintage swap. You CAN be rated down if you do not send at last 10 vintage items/pieces from different sources, or send something from the "do not send" list above.

Open to all group members in good standing with no 1's, 3's or no-sends in the last 2 months. It my 1st time hosting in this group, so I will check profiles before assigning partners. Please PM me or comment below with any questions.

One man's "trash" is another man's treasure and we're all Ephemera Junkies, so let's share some of our goodies with each other!

I have a request: can we keep the number of photocopied or computer printed images, etc. to a minimum? I don't consider color copies or print-outs to be real vintage ephemera. I suppose it would be okay as part of the 10 "other" pieces, but I prefer not to receive them at all, unless they are extra special. Is that too picky?

Not at all, @TheArtfulDogger I didn't think about that. I had original ephemera in mind when I created the swap. Again, the items have to be from different sources, so no more than 2 can come from the internet/printed from the computer. Besides, anything that yo print from the computer isn't truly vintage, right? I'll send an e-mail to all joiners asking them to read the swap carefully.

Awesome! I've received quite a bit of copied/printed pieces in ephemera swaps in the past. It's okay to get one here and there, but it's no substitute for real vintage ephemera. Thanks!

Wow 20 items. I am going to go digging around and see how many things I can come up with. I am watching for now.

Okay I dug around in the old boxes from grandpa. Found some cool things and have stuff to send. This is going to be a cool one.
