Description:

I am setting this up so that we are not competing with Carolyn's swap "make a purse from anything recycled USA only".

Take a box, a small bucket, an old lunch box, old records, a coffee can, an old binocular box, an old book, an old hat box, or anything else that strikes your fancy, and use it to make your partner a purse.

You cannot make it from scratch or from another purse - the majority of the purse must be made from something that you already have and are recycling. The idea is to make a purse from something that was not intended to be a purse. Be really creative, strive for unusual and different, but make it something they will be proud to show off!

Check out your partner's profile for their favorite colours, just in case you have something that will work in that colour. More importantly, if your partner hates pink don't send them a fluffy pink purse. Try to match it in some way with something in your partner's profile. For example, if they like cats use a cat charm or button. If they like dragons, use an image of a dragon on it or an old button or charm that has a dragon on it. Just try to make it theirs, make it personal, but most importantly, make it fun.

There is no dollar value on this because most of what you use should be recycled materials. Do not send a tiny purse, send a nice size usable purse at least 6 inches long.

You are invited to sign up if you have:

  • a 4.7 rating or higher
  • no 1s in the 6 months prior to sign up
  • a fully completed profile
  • at least 10 substantial swaps rated a 5

Sorry, no newbies.

I reserve the right to ban according to my criteria, and will do so after sign up. But, if you have concerns about anyone, please let me know.

If you do not meet the above criteria but feel your circumstances deserve consideration, please pm me.

so I've lost some weight and my jeans are massively huge now - if i use the fabric from my jeans to make a bag is that recycling and does that come under this swap?/

TerryF 09/ 6/2007 #

Since the fabric never started out as a purse, I would say yes!

Hi TerryF!

I got a USA swapper to send my purse. I don't mind really, just LYK and hope everything's fine.

My sincerest apologies to Carolyn who started this swap for USA only. Double DOH! I must have been suffering from sewer's dementia (too many morsbags on the assembly line) when I checked the people who signed up for this swap and completely forgot to screen out the USA people! Not that I am the least bit unhappy having our American friends join us, but I really didn't mean to steal them from Carolyn. Mea culpa --- and welcome USA swappers! Terry
