Description:

I believe in fairies! Imagine a dense wooded glen next to a meadow of wildflowers dancing in the breeze. Bluebirds and goldfinches dart and dive overhead, sweetening the air with their trilling melodies. The sun sits low in the west, welcoming the moon. The mists of eventide roll in from the nearby river and the croaking frogs and cicadas begin the serenade of the night.

Suddenly this peaceful interlude ends when you hear high-pitched laughter! You see movement out of the corner of your eye as a splash of pink rockets behind fronds of apple-green ferns...

You have just heard and seen one of God's most illusive creatures...

A FAIRY!

So anyone up for a Captured Fairy Whimsey Jar Swap? It's not difficult! Just think fairy! If you were captured in a glass jar, what kind of jar would it be? What color? What would you want around you to remind you of your home in the glen? Do your wings change colors when you're sad? What kind of fairy are you? How did you let yourself be captured? What in the world happened? How old are you? Are you royalty? What do you eat for breakfast? did you have to earn your wings or were you born with them?

To get you in the mood to create your Captured Fairy Jar, you will write a paragraph answering the above questions plus telling about your life as a fairy and add it here as a comment to help your partner in creating a most wonderful jar for you!

Visit my Welcome to Whimsey blog listed above and/or Google to see some fantastic pics of Captured Fairy jars! I also have a short post showing you some ideas for glass containers. Think outside the box! Think of a pretty glass vase covered with a lacy doily, a carafe with a swath of silk! Your fairy loves the unusual and the daring!

REQUIREMENTS:
Write a paragraph in the comments below.
You will send 1 Captured Fairy Whimsey Jar to 1 Partner. The jar will be well-wrapped and made of a GLASS container at least 6 inches high OR 6 inches across. Tall, squatty, skinny, fat. It's up to you. Of course, you can go bigger!
Decorate and furnish your jar! This is ultimately a SENDER'S CHOICE Swap, but write your comment as a story to give your partner a head's up!

Everyone in the USA and Canada is welcome! Newbies, too. If you have any 1's or 3's, please PM me. I, of any one, know that life happens!

Now off with ye! I can hear the fluttering of tiny wings!

I am a Raspberry Fairy. I was born with silvery pink wings that later changed to the deepest raspberry color you ever did see! I am 223 years old this October. i shudder to think of being captured, but if this is my fate, I'd want a lovely glass bell jar in the faintest shimmering blue-like the color of the inside of a forget-me-not in the cool of evening. If my fate is to be captured I would want around me the soft dewy grass of sping after the mists of morning have disappeared into the mountains. I would want to sip the nectar of the yellow peace rose and listen to the hummingbirds make their rounds at noontide. If you captured me it was because I was daydreaming of my prince so far away now. No, my wings do not change color when I am sad, but the song I sing will call the wind to free me.

I am a Wooded Glenn Fairy. I have moth wings the color of bark. My body and hair are pale white that shimmers when the silver moon's light rests upon me.

I have 3 favorite activities. The first is to tease gnomes....they are so easy to prank! Often times, I like to steal their hats or shoes as they nap under the trees.

The second is to ride on the back of a deer. I love feeling the wind in my hair as I hold tight to their neck.

Third, is to lounge on mushrooms and dream, often times I will grab a chunk of mushroom and eat it as I lounge lazily. This is how I got caught. I wasn't paying much attention...and boom I was captured.

Right now I am thinking of ways to escape, my captors have tried their best to make this glass jar look like my wooded glenn...but I miss the sound of rustling trees and my family.

I am joining this swap for my 10yr old daughter, Michaela, who loves fairies...Here is the paragraph that she wrote for her fairy:

My name is Silver, and I am a water fairy. My hair is white with blue highlights. My wings are clear as a dew drop. I am a very curious fairy and that is how I got captured. I was headed to investigate a mysterious glow near the lake when I was caught in a blue candle jar. Once I was caught, my wings turned as black as the night with light silver specks that glittered like the stars. This always happens when I'm sad. I am very frightened because I don't know if I will live to see my 233rd birthday in December. The people who have captured me have tried to make my prison feel more at home for me by surrounding me with things that remind me of my lake home. However, it hasn't made me any happier, and I hunger for the sourgrass and berries that I would usually have for breakfast. I am not royalty, so I had to earn my wings, but once I did nothing could have prepared me for this.

Thank you for doing this swap! She is very excited. =)

I am a garden fairy. I love jetting between the strawberry bushes and resting under the shade of the pumpin leaves. As Royalty, I have always had such a beautiful garden to play in, lots of animals to play with but not many friends. My family tries to seclude me from the outside world. My pale pink wings shimmer so brightly in the sun I'm surprised no other fairies can see them, even from far. Even though I love my life and all my animal friends, I decided to try and find other fairies to play with. That's how I got caught. I was captured by a human! My human is very kind, she makes me clothes and has made me a bed. She put me in a nice little jar that I can see thru and placed me in the window. She feeds me fresh fruit from her garden, which I love. But now I am lonely without my animal friends and my family. My wings have turned clear and lost their shimmer. Now no one will be able to find me. If only I could find a reason to smile again, I'm sure my wings would begin to glow and perhaps someone would find me.

I am Lyra, a water fairy. I love dancing on mushrooms and snoozing on treetops. My favorite is teasing fish and making shoes! I love jetting through small tree limbs and close to the human children! Just a chance to talk to one! I took that chance, and now i am caught. The child has made me a wooden house and small doll clothes. I miss the wind between my wings and the sun on my face. I spend my day dreaming of the wonderful prince that will come in a rescue me, and at night, i escape through fantasies watching the moon shimmer on the lake below.

This jar will be for my daughter Cassie who is 8.

I am LuLu and I am a 408 year old woodland fairy. I have emerald wings and a leaf outfit I made myself. One day as I was fluttering through the trees collecting acorn caps for some new bowls, I was caught in the net of a beautiful brown eyed girl. She took me home her and put me in her candy jar. I marveled as she brought me into her home and place my jar on her family's nature table. Then she filled my jar with items they had collected from my woods. She gave me a small table made from twigs tied together with string and a chair. The floor was lined with moss and all around me where some pine cones and she made some mushroom stools of the softest wool, Plenty of acorn caps and small wood chips to use as dishes. The next day for breakfast she gave me fairy berries, gnome made granola and seeds. Oh how I miss my friends, but I enjoy looking at all the things outside of my jar. I hope that someday my betrothed, Prince Andrew will come and rescue me.

My name is Alana. I am a snowflake fairy. My favorite time of year of course is in the winter. This year, I will be 938 years young.

I have been around a long time, but have never saw or heard of another fairy just like me. I have long, flowing, snow white hair and my wings are an irridescent white and silver. I always dress in clothes that are a beautiful winter blue.

I was out scouting for a new home, when I was captured by a human. With the Fall/Winter season coming soon, I hope the human will let me go. I am so ready for the colder temperatures. That's when I get to fly around with my best friend Chilly. He is a male cardinal. We have all kinds of adventures and always meet new friends wherever we go.

Hello ! My name is Pendren! I am a male Pear Blossom Fairy, I live in Oregon , home of many pear blossom orchards. I am 403 years old, I have dark blue sparkle butterfly wings and blonde hair and blue eyes. My clothing depends on if it is just a normal day flying around the pear blossoms or if I am dressing up for a ball! Spring is my favorite time of year! When all the pear trees are in full bloom! Nothing is better than resting in a group of pear blossoms on a warm April day!

I am Nazunel, Princess of Shroomdom. I have dark brown, curly hair and bright blue eyes. I am the youngest of my family at only 900 years old and like the rest of my family, I was born with my red wings. We don’t have to earn them like everyone else. They don’t change colors with our moods but they shimmer and glow brighter than any other fairy.

I live in a purple castle surrounded by tiny colorful toadstools in a sea of bright, green moss; where big, colorful flowers grow as tall as trees. My best friend is a red throated, hummingbird named Mizzy. We like to spend our days racing around the biggest of the flowers enjoying the scents and colors they have to offer.

I let myself be captured in order to study humans. I have always been curious about the life of these enormous creatures. Don’t tell the humans but I can free myself whenever I want with just a sprinkling of fairy dust. I think I will stay a while to see just how much I can learn from them.

My jar is a uniquely shaped one. Odd and unusual like me! The humans decorated it in pretty purple and red ribbons with lots of sparkling gems. They feed me plenty of flower petals and mushrooms. I don’t know how they discovered that petals are my favorite… Perhaps humans are smarter than they appear!
