Description:

I got such a great response to the first round of this swap that I have decided to host another round! I, for one, have LOTS of inchies just dying to find new homes!

Do you have some inchies left over from a swap? Have you made some cool inchies that don't fit a posted swap? Have you created inchies for a swap and then have the swap canceled? Do you have some supplies you really want to use but don't know if they will fit a posted swap?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions this swap is for you!

You will have three partners. You will send 6 inchies to each partner (for a total of 18 inchies). Any theme(s), any color(s), and technique(s)!

You might be asking: "What in the world is an inchie?"... Inchies are tiny works of art that measure 1" by 1". These can be made from any medium (paper, fabric, wood, plastic), by any technique (collage, watercolor, acrylic, pencil). You want your inchies to be sturdy - either layers of cardstock, mounted to chip board, game pieces, tiles, etc.

Newbies are welcome! :)

I have never done this before but I do different art every day and I would love to swap stuff. Can you help me?

LauraAust 09/13/2010 #

Sure @Liza - what do you need help with? The concept of an "inchie"?

Liza 09/13/2010 #

I think I got it! But thanks for the response now I have the max on swaps, I'm sending one tomorrow and maybe it will allow me to get another swap. Have a great day! and thanks again.

Do these have to be sent by mail or can I email them? I have a few sheets I've designed and would love the opportunity to share them. It's just they're digital and my color printer is out of commission.

I JUST joined and am new and searching through everything and this just kind of reaches out in my direction. I'm a very instruction based person though and am wondering if you can give a detailed description of how to make an inchie, and what to make it out of. Ive looked on google images and just cant wrap my head around how to go about it but I love the idea. Thanks for introducing me to something I've never heard of!

I just extended the sign-up date a few days because I will be out-of-state on vacation. YAY!

@Pancakes A brief tutorial: An inchie must measure 1" by 1" square. An inchie must be sturdy - the base can be chipboard, watercolor paper, card stock, etc. You could use game pieces, mosaic tiles, etc. Just so long as they are 1" by 1". Sometimes I use two layers of cardstock - other times I use one layer of cardstock and then mount that to a piece of chipboard. Some people mount the inchies to pieces cut from recycled cereal boxes, etc.

Today I made some Kawaii themed inchies. I started out with 1" square pieces of patterned cardstock. Then, I took more 1" pieces of patterned cardstock and cut them into triangles and strips. I mounted these to the first cardstock pieces. Then, I attached various Kawaii stickers. I then edged all my inchies by scraping them against a rubber stamp pad - just to give the edges a more "finished" look. I completed the inchies by attaching brads and gluing on embellishments.

I am almost done with some Halloween inchies - I hand sewed bat shaped buttons to some, on others I figured out how to make a woven spiderweb from thread. Others have Halloween stickers and cardstock cut-outs.

@Brooklyne - concerning digital inchies. I would have to say it's totally up to the partners that you are assigned to send to.

Hi, I am new here, but not new to swapping - I'm always on the lookout for active groups! I love inchies and would like to join this swap! Will you email the names of partners or just post them here?

LauraAust 09/21/2010 #

@Prismcat On the day after the "sign up date" I will go in and assign partners (actually, it's done by the system, I just push a button). You will then return to the swap (which will be listed on your dashboard if you sign up) and click on the "view partner(s) I send to" link in the upper right hand corner of the screen. A new window will open with your partner(s)' name and address. Once you receive your items from your partners, you click on the "rate your coordinator and partner" link in the same list. Then you can rate and leave comments. That's about it - I'm sure there's an FAQ on the site that goes into a lot more detail than this. It would be great to have you join this swap!

Can we send the same set of inchies to each partner?

K80 10/ 2/2010 #

I have never made inchies before, but I think it may be time to try,

LauraAust 10/ 3/2010 #

@PrettyPaperz - yep - you can send the same set of inchies to each partner. Thanks!

@K80 - yes! - I think i'ts time you try inchies!

another silly question, Do we make 6 different inchies for one partner? Not 6 of the same. I get that we can send the same set to each partner. This is only my second swap so i am very new at this.
