what exactly is a tip in?

I would like to know exactly what a tip in is also. I have a bit of an idea but need some more specific details. Thanks.

Ah there is a few ways to describe them. They are pages you make & send to others for them to add to their altered books. The one I am doing however is where you take a regular size paper & fold it in half. You decorate one side of the entire sheet, but not the back. You can look at my flickr to see some.
