THIS SWAP HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Only one person has signed up and they didn't get back to me when I emailed them. The send deadline has passed and neither of us have sent it (I'm marking it as sent to get it off my dashboard), so it's not happening. Who out there reads the free papers the Stranger from Seattle or the Portland Mercury? They are sister papers that tend to be liberal, funky, raw, etc. They both have this amazing section in the back called Love Lab. It's for personals, but most of the postings are beautifully written. I always browse through them because of the poetic glimpse into people's lonely, searching hearts that they give. Here's an example of a post. I have this one taped to my monitor because I love it so much, even with its typos: Fishing for Mermaids I work in a boatyard while pursing ventures on the side. I am interested in music, art and literature, my taste varies, generally I enjoy the classics. I am an amateur astrologist and I believe in life. Hank, 23 So: *Make two ATCs based on two Love Lab posts (one for each of two partners) *Incorporate some or all of the actual newspaper clipping in your art - posts from Love Lab online won't work *It has to be Love Lab - no other personals, please! If you don't have access to either of these papers, let me know ahead of time and I'll send you a page or two of Love Labs for you to work with. This swap has a big time frame so interested people who don't live in the NW can get their hands on some Love Labs and participate. Also: *Consider writing out the whole post on the back of the card so that your partner gets to read the whole post *Interpret the post however you want when making your art - it doesn't have to be literal. Let me know if you have any questions...this is a pretty specific swap so I hope it ends up working out... |
