Description:

This will be a series of monthly swaps, but you don't have to join each month. You will have one partner each time. The stitcheries are 6 x 6 inch finished and can be used for a quilt, a wall hanging, a pillow, a tote bag, or whatever you like.

Make an embroidery on a piece of 100 % white or off-white cotton in the theme and color of your partner’s choice. The embroidery should fit in a 6 x 6 inch square, so make sure your fabric is 7 x 7 inch.

Because it's stitchery you can use primarily basic stitches: backstitch, running stitch, straight stitch and French knots.

After signing up for this swap, please go to the comments section and post your theme and color. IF YOU FORGET THIS, IT WILL BE SENDERS CHOICE!!

Have fun!

Do we have to go ahead and finish the edges and everything, or just do the stitching and leave it as it?

Annet 03/15/2010 #

No, you don't have to finish the edges. This way your partner can use it in their own projects. So you just do the stitching.

I'm thinking about a theme, I promise I will have one before partners are assigned! :-)

I'm in. Will go with Nursery Rhymes. It's been pointed out that they are diff all round the world, well, so be it. My grandchildren will have an international quilt when I'm finished. After all, how different can Humpty Dumpty be? Please don't stress over rhyme lines, just characters will do fine. As for colour choice - let it be very colourful, either bright or pastel, senders choice. Please don't hesitate to pm me if you have any ??? about my block.

My theme is flowers; color (or colors) is sender's choice. I'm going to use fairy fabrics to encompass these into a wall hanging, so the flowers can be realistic or fantasy. I'd also like my partner to be sure to sign and date the block, where and how is her choice. Just be sure to put it on the front, and not in the seam allowance! :-} I like to be sure the artist gets full credit for her work! Thanks for a great swap idea!

I picked a theme and I am quite excited about it! :-) I am in another swap for "chocolate" and "raspberry" fabrics and have been finding some really nice ones. In planning what to do with them, I decided to make a Valentine's Day Quilt. So, my theme is Valentine's Day and I would like any hearts , love or any other "valentiney" things and in reds, pinks and green please. Any range of red to pink and green too if you think the piece requires it. (I was thinking of leaves on flowers and my border print is brown and pink (excuse me...raspberry!) with green vines and leaves on it. I think that should be pretty easy for anyone to find designs to fit that theme, I hope so anyway! Now I can't wit to get started! :-)

My theme is Halloween, in orange and black. Anything that is Halloween-y, black cats, pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, witches, bats, candy, etc.!

Annet 03/23/2010 #

My theme is cats. I changed my mind about the colors. Just use the bright colors you think you need for this embroidery. I only want to know which embroidery threads you used, so sent me a note with that info please with the embroidery.

There are a lot of great themes for this swap. I cannot pick a favorite, I like them all!
