Description:

Round two is in the works, so time for Round 3!

This swap (Round 3) is open to beginners, since it's a simple block based on the 9-patch, with triangles combining to make four of the squares.

You will make one 12.5" two-colored block for one partner, and I suggest that the stars all be make of a light colored fabric for the traditional overall look of this block in a quilt. Your partner may have a preference for the other way around--just ask! The colors are sender's choice, but we can put our dislikes below in the comments, and/or in our profiles, so be sure to check there before making your block.

Use 100% cotton quilt-quality fabrics--don't finish the block, it's meant to be sewn in with others to make a finished top or other item, so no batting or backing either.

--from the Quilter's Cache:

"... Color 1 needs: one 4-1/2" square AND one 4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip Color 2 needs: one 4-1/2" x 18" strip AND one 4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip..."

Pattern and instruction here

I've made the swap International because I fit one similar block into a greeting card envelope with a zip-loc bag and it went as 1oz first class--not too expensive across the sea--though a good bit of packing tape to make it sturdy (or a tyvek envelope) may help it survive the shipping.

One helpful hint--be aware of which way the triangles are pointing when you assemble the block. They should all point clockwise as in the picture (or at least all in the same direction!).

Swap-bot Newbies are welcome with full profiles--favorite colors, themes, etc.

When I check the participant list, one thing I look for is recent logging into Swap-bot--so we know you're likely to be here! If you sign up early, and don't log in for more than 5 days before the sign up deadline, you may get banned, so please contact me if you know you'll be away form your computer the week before, to let me know you'll be back to participate in the swap.

Rated swappers must have at least 4.9 and no recent no-sends--contact me if you think you have been rated unfairly--I will ban questionable swappers--Flakers stink!

PM me with any questions, or if you catch a typo or something I've missed!

Just to clarify--should the points face the way of the picture at the top of this page or the way of the picture on the link? I just want to double check! :-)

I think you might ask your partner if she has a preference. I'd like mine facing the way of the swap picture, just so they all match in my quilt top--and it's just a matter of positioning the triangle squares, so easy-peasy if your partner has a preference.

I just realized there are only 4 days between sign up and mailing, so I'm editing it to add a few weeks to work of the block.

Would everyone like to make this swap series (starting with this one) for two blocks instead of just one? I don't want to change it unless it's unanimous.

I would say two blocks of different colors, too, unless we have two partners...

If my partner could I would love these to be made with a young boys novelty fabric. Some thing like dinosaurs, cars, pirate, space that kind of thing. If that is not possible could I please have it in bright primary colours. Thanks
