Description:

Would you like the chance to get to know some new (to you) singers? I think that the human voice is the most astonishing instrument.

ALL YOU NEED TO SEND IS A WRITTEN REVIEW OF FIVE songs, arias, classical performances, indie singing, folk singing.

For this swap we will select 5 performances by female singers. They should be available in the MP3 format if possible so that your recipients can hear the songs.

You'll write up the name of the singer, the song, and a paragraph describing why you selected the song. It would be most cool if you could select a singer who is not necessarily number one on the Billboard Charts. Try to explain as vividly as possible why you love these songs. Select classical music, indie-rock, r & b--whatever moves you!

I will probably try to add some diversity in terms of the age of the songs, the genre of the songs, and try to describe the songs so that you might want to run and sample it.

You can type up your responses if you prefer. And best of all--you need add nothing else. No little packages; no gifts. This should be a guilt-free swap. You need offer nothing but an appreciation for music and some thought into your selections.

Hand-written or typed--either is acceptable. This swap is open for Newbies because I can angel it, but please be aware that you will be rated.

For example, you could make a list of five performances that you really love right now and then describe in a paragraph what makes you think they are fantastic: Example (just off the top of my head): "Marry Me" by St. Vincent "Muzetta's Waltz" by Nicole Cabell "Dreams" by Stevie Nicks "If I Had a Hammer" Mary Travers "Fidelity" by Regina Spektor

Wait, a mixed cd or 5 mp3's via email?

Doulton 03/ 6/2010 #

No, you would only send the name of the singer and the song (or aria, or duet). I just asked that it be available so that if your recipient is curious, she will get to look it up. But you don't need to send anything at all except for your review of the singers.

can it be a song where the lead singer is a girl but the rest of the band is not? (aka flyleaf, paramore, etc)

Are we sending this via snail mail or email?

Doulton 03/16/2010 #

Yes, you can certainly have a singer who has male background singers or someone who is only occasionally a soloist. Yes, you could email these or send them via snail-mail. Thank you for asking!
