Uncreative, Uncrafty But Sincere, Guilt-Free Letters:

This is a low-pressure swap. Your goal is to write a letter on any topic that concerns you. It can be something trivial or something substantial; it can be a book review or a rant about a pet peeve. It can be a brief paragraph or a few pages. Don't feel guilty if it's too long or too short.

Here's the catch: you CANNOT include anything extra. No gifts. No stuff-ins. No knitting or quilting. No transforming your letter into a quilted wall-fresco with embroidered edging perched on a tea-bag!

If your partner likes what you write, maybe you will make a new pen-pal. That's always a big maybe.
So--no extras just a piece of your mind. Feel free to print on the computer or to write by hand. And send it in the mail! No emails, please.

does it matter what kind of stationary its on o.o? does it have to be plain ^^'. I really like using stickers on my papers lol.

Doulton 02/22/2010 #

Yes, of course you can use stickers! I just meant that nobody should feel compelled to be crafty at all. I'd like to keep the focus on the letter and not the "extras". I probably would not use plain stationery myself, but you could use a plain piece of typing paper if you like and simply do not feel guilty if you are not fancy nor feel disappointed if you don't get anything fancy.

Thank you for asking!

sounds fun! I am in!

How do you find someone to write? Do you just go through the list of people already signed up and get their address off their profile? This is all very new to me, but I am excited to get started. :)

@mommajenhen when the signup date has passed, the coordinator assigns everyone a partner, then you're sent an email which lets you know that partners have been assigned. You then come onto swap-bot, click on this swap, and they'll be a box at the top right corner, you can click a link that says "partners you send to". It's self explanitory from there.

Thanks a ton gemini! :) My sister and I were just discussing the other day, how much we missed having pen pals like we did when we were in school. I'm going to pass word along to her about this!

Yes, thank you for the clarifications, gemini5757. You will hear when the swap is coordinated. For your letter you can write anything you like about something that you care about; you can write about more than one thing. You can certainly use any form of writing you like---typing, writing by hand. I just want you to relax and send a part of yourself to somebody else!

This is a great swap. I like the "no pressure" part. I'm excited to be sending international as well. Thanks!!

My apologies. I forgot to click on the sent button a while ago. I've already sent out to my partners. Thank you.

Gilkaboo, well, since my Malaysia pal has rec'd the letter from me. I'm going to assume the post office is holding the one I sent to you ransom, some place and will re-send. Scratching my head on where the letter I mailed to you on March 31st might be lurking. Please holla my way when you get this re-send. thx

I sent letters 3 different times to gilkaboo. The first 2 I sent to the address she had on the send to page. She finally deduced that it was wrong corrected it and sent me the new address via pm. I was out of the country in May performing for our troops in Iraq and Kuwait. I come home to find the 3rd letter finally made it to her and she rates me a 3. Wow. for a no pressure swap. I jumped through way too many hoops to be rewarded with this rating. Thanks!
