Description:

Ever since I heard about Project Linus, a charity that gives blankets to needy children, I have wanted to do it, but I knit as slow as I read, and so I thought that we might be able to do a blanket if I got more than just me on the case. This swap will be an 8x8 inch square, knitted or crocheted in any pattern or color you like as long as it is washable. Use up scraps, get creative, do whatever your heart desires. I will sew up the squares and edge the blanket, take a picture of it, and give it to a project linus drop off here in Denver. The more the merrier, if we make more blankets, it's all good. Anyone and everyone is invited, and it's a good way for newbies to get points, too.
I think that swap bot will assign partners automatically, so you can rate your partner when they let you know they sent the square to me. I think exchanging pics of the squares is a great idea. Also, here is my address. You can send the squares whenever they are done.
Holly Sepulveda 2360 S. Franklin St. Denver, CO 80210 Thanks a lot for everyone's support.

Fun! When I was in Student Council in High School we did blankets for this Charity. I had a lot of fun! We did the no-sew fleece kind of blankets. (Where you tie the knots all the way around) Good idea for the swap! :)

You need to make sure to either pm all the participants or post your address onhere so they can send them on. Great swap!

Great Idea, I don't knit or crochet so cann't swap. I'm a quilter and my guild makes quilts for a variety of people/ groups

Great idea, I'm in. Just a thought, maybe we can take a picture of our square and e-mail it to our partner, that way they know it has been made and sent, and can rate us accordingly. I also agree with @crochetjunkie we will need your address so we can send you the squares.

i cant knit crochet but i have some yarn i am willing to give to one of you. i have cotton, whool and poleyster.. I think this projekt is great and i would be happy to support it.

I would be careful not to publish your name and address on the open Internet by putting it in the swap description. It'd be safer to send your address privately to the participants. As hostess, you have access to everyone's email address under "View Participants" and could send your address via email. (Just be sure to BCC everyone's email addresses to protect their private information.)

Good luck with the swap. This is a GREAT cause! :-)

I'm with SweetClementine. You really should send your personal address through an email to the swap participants. And it would be a good idea for people to take a picture of their work and email it to their partner but you could also email and let their partner know when you received it so they can rate accordingly.

This really is a wonderful cause and a great swap idea. Thanks for hosting (and doing all this work)!

Project Linus might have guidelines about not using wool - i have made some blankets for them and i used baby yarn in soft acrylics, because i think i remember reading that they do not want wool yarn used.

Poluknalai 02/18/2010 #

THere is an acrylic yarn at Hobby Lobby that is really soft. It's called I love this yarn. But I do believe that acrylics would be better, but I think they accept the washable wool.

okee dokee, once you are done with your square, just send it to me, I will sew them all up and put on an edge, take a picture of the finished blanket and drop it off at a project linus drop. I will post the picture on here or at least send you all a pdf file via email. When you send your square, just rate your partner. We will go on the honor system. If you don't send a aquare, then boo on you. I don't think this will be a problem. Sound ok to everyone?
