I love scones and tea! What a nice idea!

  • No feasible. + Not feasible.

Who knew a minus sign became a dot? And why did my correction post 'above' the comment it was correcting? Maybe it's a glitsch... Swap-Bot's acting a little bit funny.

I'd sign up in a heartbeat if this was 2 partners, or max 3 because when you live outside the US most of your partners are going to be international (American!) ones. Each letter less than 50g costs $2.10 to send, but adding three teabags might double that. $4.20 x 5 = $21.00 for postage alone. No feasible. Just some food for thought just in case you hadn't considered it. :( And I'm only bothering to say so because it's a really good swap idea! (Pls msg me if you ever decide to change the number of recipients.)

This should be a one partner swap.

LexiGold 01/17/2010 #

i agree with the one partner swap :( its a brilliant idea, but postage is a silly amount X

knitmom7 01/17/2010 #

1 partner sounds good to me!

sunflowerpast 01/17/2010 #

Ok..I changed it to a 1 partner swap....now it is feasible.

THANKYOU! :D

LexiGold 01/17/2010 #

ill make the tea extra special!

Thank you from me too. This is great! :)

I just sent tea (3 bags) to italy and hungary and it was only $2.30 each.

papercaper 02/ 4/2010 #

@kgeslab Not in Australia. Well, if it's under 50g it's actually only $2.10 each (AUD therefore a bit less in USD), and double that for the next weight bracket (50g+). But there were originally 5 partners in this swap. Even $10.50 is a lot for postage for one swap, never mind double ($21.00). 1 partner is heeeeaps better. But I guess my point is - Swap-Bot is international. We're not all sending teabags from the same country. ;)

@sunflowerpast : I forgot to mention :( I don't think you can send scone mix (real scone mix) to Australia. I'm not sure about scone mix that's factory-sealed, but our Quarantine restrictions are tight to keep certain agricultural blights at bay. I've had two parcels arrive in the last month that had both been inspected (opened) by Customs officials. You could double check on the Australia Post website re: your future swap idea if you wanted to be sure. A great idea if it works though! :)

I guess if you can't afford a swap you ought not sign up. Plus, Australia is (to my knowledge) not allowed to swap teas??? And, the swap does not call for scone MIX, just a recipe.

papercaper 02/12/2010 #

True, @kgeslab you probably ought not to sign up, but still it is nice if everyone/most can be involved, and three others agreed so I hope that didn't seem like a selfish suggestion on my part. (I'd suggested 2-3 as possibly be more doable, others called for 1, and ultimately the co-ordinator decided to change it from 5 partners to 1.) Additionally, I wasn't referring to this swap re the scone mix, but to a (wonderful!) idea the co-ordinator wrote about future swaps: "If this swap goes well I would love to have a swap with a REAL scone mix with the tea!!!!" As for tea, They don't usually have a problem here with organic imports (even seeds) that are foil-sealed at the site of manufacture, but yes, I should clarify that. Also, the Aust Post website says that the US doesn't permit tea either, so it's all a bit iffy. Should prob just read the USPS website. (Sorry for the long comments, everyone. Just trying to be thorough!)
