Description:
This is one of two year long swaps I have scheduled for 2010. In this swap we will be making all of the lovely First Ladies! We have done all US Presidents (2008) and US States (2009), now we are doing all First Ladies! When we are done you will have a complete collection, although you do not have to enter every month, it makes a nice set. This months first ladies are: MARTHA DANDRIDGE CUSTIS WASHINGTON (1789-1797), ABIGAIL SMITH ADAMS(1797-1801), MARTHA WAYLES SKELTON JEFFERSON * & DOLLEY PAYNE TODD MADISON (1809-1817). * Jefferson was a bachelor (Martha having died "before" Jefferson took office, but she is included here as he did not wed again), in cases where a hostess was needed for a White House function, James Madison's wife, Dolley, acted as hostess. Now as you know, your ATCs must be made of hard card stock, measure 2 1/2" X 3 1/2". You may use any media, but your cards should be something you would be thrilled to own, having taken care & time creating them. Requirements: You must have completed profiles, and a rating of at least 4.80 (with no recent ones or threes), also if you are known not to rate, you will be exclude as manners DO matter. Sorry, no newbies. Every "flake" would mean I would have to angel "4" ATCs. Earlier this year, I had and I had to angel the first ofone of my year long swaps X5!!!! I never want to have to do THAT again, and newbies (although I love to encourage you) can be risky. I will try to get a pic up on here before the Jan deadline, my software is not recognizing my memory card and I have been too busy to solve this yet. I hope everyone will get into the spirit of this patriotic swap!

Nice ATC! She is really pretty (especially for him, lol)! Yeah, it's a ways off, so I understand all about waiting till it is closer.

I've got my first four ladies sketched out. A heads up on Mrs. Jefferson (yes, another heads up on her). There was never an actual portrait of her made, BUT there was a silhouette of her made, so if you do a computer search with her name, add the word "silhouette" and it will come up. Thomas Jefferson had been a widower something like 12 years before he became President, but she was his only wife (of record). There are old likenesses out there, but they are of a daughter.

Hi! I just found this swap tonight....I came back on to sign up and low and behold it is 12:13AM Jan. 1st...... I also mentioned this to my mother and she wanted to do this swap as well. Is it to late to join in?

Well, I see you haven't signed up yet, so I PMed you. Hopefully (if you still wish to join) you will sign up by later this afternoon. I will assign partners before I leave for a New Year's Day party I am going to. I have already finished my four - and they turned out much better than I anticipated. I am really going to love this swap.

Hi! Yes, I want to join and "Scrapper" wants to join. The prob. is, the place where we click to "sign up" has been taken off. If we miss the deadline, don't sweat it, we are fine. :)

Why don't you two exchange with one another. That taking off of the "join" after the deadline must be fairly new, since I know you used to be able to do that. Then next month you can start with the rest of us. I'll be putting up the sign up for the next swap in this series sometime today.
