Description:

I love all the monthly themed book swaps on here, and thought I would try my hand at hosting my own. I love scavenger hunts, and thought it might be fun to try and find books that fit certain criteria—colors, words, symbols, images, etc. If all goes well with this first one, I will continue this swap with a different set of scavenger hunt items each month.

For this first swap (November), you will send your partner a book, from your own collection or from a used bookstore, thrift shop, etc. that contains all three items from the following list:

  1. The color red, appearing anywhere on the book’s cover (background, lettering or art)

  2. An ampersand (&) anywhere on the cover or within the pages.

  3. And, in honor of Thanksgiving (for my fellow ‘mericans), your book must contain either a description of a family dinner (not necessarily a Thanksgiving dinner, though), OR a picture of a family at dinner. This can be traditional or kooky, depending on your typical reading fare! :)

Books can be any type or genre—fiction, biography, self-help, cook books, how-to, children’s, little “gifty” books, etc. Sender’s choice, but feel free to check your partner’s profile to get ideas or avoid specific dislikes.

To recap: you will have ONE partner and send them ONE book, but it needs to have all three scavenger hunt items represented in/on it. Books can (and most likely will) be gently used, but must be readable and clean.

PLEASE include a note describing where all three items can be found (if it’s not obvious), and anything you’d like to add about the book, your reaction to it, etc. Half the fun of book-swapping is discussing the books with our friends! :)

Unfortunately, I have to make this one US/Canada/Mexico only… Mailing books overseas, especially heavy ones, can be super- expensive. :( But feel free to start an international version if you’d like!

The legal mumbo-jumbo: No recent ones or threes— please take care of your old swaps before signing up for new ones! Newbies (with less than 5 rated snail mail swaps) welcome with fully filled-out profile, but PLEASE PM me before signing up! I will automatically ban you if you skip this step! Please don’t sign up unless you’re committed to sending!!!

I hope this will be fun… thanks in advance to any brave souls willing to join me! :)
