Description:

I have been keeping Art Journals for a long time. I thought how fun it would be if we could all share journal pages.I plan to do this every 3 weeks, you will sign up and create 1 page back and front from sign up to send off...

We will also have themes and word prompts.I'm sure you will really enjoy creating your pages for your partner. This month we will do the following.

Take two 8 1/2 x 11 inch pieces of card stock and decorate the front of each piece. This will form the covers for our Art Journal. Please create the cover you would like not just your partners likes. The only way you would not get a 5 is if you did not send. You should do your best and make a cover that you would be proud to receive.

Once we have completed our covers and sent them off we will then start journaling.I am only allowing 2 weeks from sign up to send date.Since we are not going with partners likes then you should have plenty of time. This is how you conceive the page.Based on how and what you feel while you are creating it.You can be personal or you can be vague it's up to you as to how much you share.

You must participate in this swap to be included in the next one.The next swap will be a private swap.I will let you know by email the link to the next swap and the password.

What will next months theme be? Glad you asked.

You will take one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of card stock and decorate the front and back using the following.

Word Prompt:Dreams

Medium:Magazine clippings and gel pens..This means that you must use only those on your card stock. If you have any questions then please ask.I will post these details on the swap page so you wont need to review here.

Rules:

1.You must have a rating of 4.5 with no recent no sends and only 1 no send in your profile.

2.If you are new then you can participate with a completed and full profile.

3.You must use Delivery Confirmation or a postal office which will give you proof of postage. This is for your protection and should help if your item does not arrive and you need to resend.

4.Swap is International because these are super lightweight.

5.If you have additional questions then please ask.

Although the swap is international, only the US uses 8 1/2" x 11" "letter size" paper. The rest of the world uses A4 which is close, but not the same. A4 covers won't fit letter-size pages and vice verse.

funkykchicken 06/15/2007 #

Hello,

That is true and i apologize for not thinking of that.If you are international then your partner if in the US would need to trim the page or cover to suit you. This will still work as US participants could also trim their pages to suit A4 size as well. Can you give me the measurements for A4 paper please? I can convert it to inches as well. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

This looks really fun! Are the medium limits just on next months page or on the cover as well?

funkykchicken 06/15/2007 #

No they are for next month only.I just wanted to give every one a heads up for next months theme idea.Instead of just card stock you could also use chipboard which can be found in scrapbook stores.Any sturdy or otherwise cover will be fine.

Thanks for signing up

Hi..I would like to try this but have a couple of questions...does it matter if the A4 page is used horizontal or vertical? and..am i right in saying the idea is to decorate said pages in the theme given, no space for journeling etc? - sorry if I appear a bit 'thick'!! but I want to make sure I do it right. thanks :)

funkykchicken 06/21/2007 #

What we are doing this month is the covers. You should probably just do horizontal.I know A4 paper is not quite 8 1/2 x 11 but it will make it easier for your partner if they are in the US. They will have the choice of trimming their pages to fit the cover.

When we start doing the pages then you will do the entire page .You would not be leaving room for them.Of course you would have both sides of the paper. So you could leave 1 side for them to journal on and just journal your own thoughts on the front side.Does that make sense or have i confused you more.Let me know and i will explain better.

great, thanks..that makes it clearer! this should be fun! :)

I have been swapping tip-ins on swap-bot since Augest and although I live in New Zealand and our paper size is A4 I always work on the 8 1/2" x 11" inch size. This is eazy as I buy lart sheets of card and just cut it to size and use the strips left over for postcards and ATC's. I hope that is a help to all those who can only think A4. Depending on the size of the sheets I get I can get 4 or 5 tip-ins from a sheet.

Thanks for posting this it's a huge help.

Looks like we have a great group of ladies to create journal pages with.I will be getting in touch next for the journal pages so we can get started with those.I will send it by email so please be sure to check your spam folder. Thanks for joining me and be sure to send me a message if you have questions.

AngelFaeryKathleen 06/24/2007 #

Just to make sure I', doing the right way. The covers and pages are to be landscape / horizontal? Are we leaving a space on the left for binding?

funkykchicken 06/25/2007 #

The covers should be portrait. This is the less confusing from some messages i have received.I'm sorry i posted the horizontal above. You can leave a half inch or so if you want for the binding.

We will start doing the pages once everyone has had a chance to complete and send off the covers. If you have questions please let me know.

yowell 06/26/2007 #

Hello Everyone,

If you are my partner for this swap, doing the cover, I would like to share some information with you and this will be helpful as we move along in this swap and start doing inside pages as well.

I AM USING A COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK FOR MY JOURNAL. IT MEASURES DIFFERENTLY THAN 8 1/2 by 11. IT MEASURES 9 3/4 inches WIDE BY 7 1/2inches long. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO TAKE AWAY ANY OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL WORK TO MAKE IT FIT ON MY NOTEBOOK.

Thank you and I am looking forward to participating in this swap.

~ Orit (aka cats)~ Just wanted to let you know that your front and back covers arrived safely. It was sooo cool to receive something from Israel. Green is my favourite colour, too. Thank you so much!!! And you were so quick. I only send mine yesterday (to mrs travis).

Hi Funkychicken questions about the next pages just to make it clear in my mind before I start. 1 it is on light weight card? 2 I must do all the writing in gell pens I cannot use my printer? 3 I can only use magazine pages to decorate it. 4 can i use any ephemera at all? Hugs :-)))

yowell 07/10/2007 #

HI funkychicken...covers on their way to you from Scotland, hope you like them :)

funkykchicken 07/16/2007 #

angelfaerykathleen-Sorry haven't posted sooner.I have been so busy with my brothers last minute wedding.

You can use any type of paper you like but card stock lightweight would be best.Typing or printer paper i think would be to light. You can use your printer and you can use some ephemera. The page should be mostly gel pens and magazine type clippings though.I will be posting that swap soon so look for an email today or tomorrow.
