Description:

Thought I'd get into the dated postcard swaps goingon with this backwards one for November 10, 2009--which happens to be my hubby's 60th birthday, too!!

Three partners, one postcard each, postmarked on 11-10-09 if possible (it's a Tuesday)--that's the fun of it all, isn't it?

Newbies welcome with a full profile, no flakers though--rated swappers must have at least 4.8 with no no-sends--it's postcards for crying out loud--who flakes on postcards?

Please don't sign up if you can't guarantee you'll be able to find or make three postcards and mail them. Remember it's also an International swap--International postage is more or less $1, though only 28 cents in the US.

Especially since it's...Sender's choice for the cards--you can make them, buy them, check your partner's profile for something special or not, but sender's choice prevails.

Don't forget to write a nice note on it, including at least your swap-bot username and the name of the swap!

Any questions, please PM me.

Hey there! Might I suggest that you move the "sign-up by" date closer to the actual send date? Maybe October? More people might sign up. And on that note I am going to join now just in case.

This is cool! Could you host a USA only as well?

KarenFife 08/15/2009 #

I would love a USA one also. Please have sign-up date within a couple weeks of the mail date. You will have a huge swap if you do that.

knitmom7 08/15/2009 #

There's a 10-1=09 pc swap, US one.

twobluecrows 08/21/2009 #

OOPS! I didn't mean for the sign up date to be so soon! And I hit the Assign Partners button before thinking clearly this morning. :( Operator error, I've written to Admin to ask if it can be changed, so please watch for any changes.

As for USA only--it's only 98cents for a postcard anywhere in the world, but if you'd like to do a USA only, please feel free, I don't mind.

Hi all,

We have reversed the partner assignments on this swap and extended the sign up deadline to October 18th at the coordinator's request.

Moving to watchlist... :)

Just FYI, in most countries the date is written day-month-year or year-month-day, so cards from outside the US will likely not have a 11-10-09 stamp unless it's sent on 11 October. :-)

mellyrose89 09/29/2009 #

Australian ones will have 10-11-09

masito 10/11/2009 #

Also in many european countries it will be 10-11-09

twobluecrows 10/12/2009 #

I realize the non-USA folks may not have the actual 11-10-09, but it's the date that matters, I think, and I wouldn't mind, especially if a nice little note mentioning the date and the difference in how it's used where the sender lives came on the PC!

Hi, I'm really sorry I'm dropping out of this swap, there have been loads of postal strikes in the UK in the last month and there are more planned and the swaps I've sent in the last month seem to be very random when they're arriving at their destination, so I'm taking a break until the industrial action is all resolved. thanks!

andytgeezer 10/27/2009 #

I'm with you Samuraijen - can't do much until these silly strikes are resolved. Such a shame that we all suffer.

twobluecrows 10/31/2009 #

That's sad about the postal strikes--I hope they get resolved soon!

twobluecrows 10/31/2009 #

Well, the sign up deadline for this swap is tomorrow, so I'll be checking one more time through the lists before assigning partners.

Sadly some folks in the international swap had to drop out due to postal strikes all over the place, so there may still be some delays in mailing between countries--please take this into consideration if you're in the International version of this swap, and be patient--contact your partners if there is any question about mailing/delivery times--a little communication never hurts, and is always welcome!

Have fun!

Hi all, Just have a little bit more patience for me--there are a couple of people whom I have to try to contact before assigning partners, and we generally have 3 days to take care of list checking and all, so I'll assign partners soon!

Ok, we're good to go! I heard from all concerned and it's a Swap!

There's still about a week to find perfect postcards and get them to the post office for mailing on the 10th. Good luck and have fun!

Hi all, Checking over the participants list, I'm sad to see so many who didn't mail out on Nov 10--more than half the participants sent early! I hope those of you who did this were able to resend on the correct date, and at least contact your partner. This was the whole purpose of this swap, so don't be surprised if you get 3s for not following the swap description.

For those of you who haven't clicked sent yet...I hope it was merely an oversight--I'm guilty of that, I sent my cards out on Nov 10, had them hand canceled with the correct date, but just now got back to the computer to click "Sent".

To those of you all who mailed on time, thanks!

Cyn

PS, I tried to send this out as a group e-mail, but one of the e-mail addys is "malformed" or something, and it would take me a long time to root out which one it is--please check your e-mail addresses to be sure you don't have a typo in your swap-bot profile!

andytgeezer 11/12/2009 #

Luckily the UK Postal service sorted the postal strike thing out just before this - my cards went out on the 10th so they should have a 10/11/09 UK postmark on them when they get there!
