Description:

For the purposes of this swap, an ODD DECO is any themed deco with an odd or uncommon theme.

The theme does not necessarily need to be an oddity, only a deco theme we do not see very often.

For example, “Bird” themes are very common but “Spotted Owl” themes are not.

Requirements:

  • This is an international swap. Please be sure to send via First Class Mail or Air Mail. Do not send via "economy" mail.

  • Send your partner one new or established deco in an “odd” theme.

  • Any theme, any size, or any type of “odd” deco is allowed in this swap – this is sender’s choice.

  • Check before sending that your partner has not already “passed” on or made a page in the book, and that they are not the maker or owner (final recipient) of the deco book. If you don’t follow this rule and send a book your partner can’t sign, this does not meet requirements.

  • Last pagers (AKA "homers") are OK to send (that means there is only 1 page left in the deco after you work on it so the next person will be responsible for sending it home).

  • Include a note with your swap-bot ID and the swap name inside your envelope.

  • Send by the deadline and rate promptly upon receipt.

If you need to start a new deco for this swap, please follow these guidelines to make an “art-syle” deco:

  • The person the deco is for (who it will return to) should be clearly noted somewhere on the deco. Include an email address. For this swap, the deco should be made for someone in the USA.

  • Make the deco in booklet form, meaning you open the book and pages are attached inside. No books with pages attached in one corner.

  • Use sturdy paper with paper cut straight, and the inside paper should be easy to adhere to and not glossy.

  • Only include 6-8 pages on the inside of your deco. As pages are decorated, the thickness of the book increases as does the cost to mail it.

  • No staples may be used when making art decos. Please use tiny brads, ribbon, string, etc.

  • All decos should have at least 3 FLAT design elements/items on your cover decorating. (Ex: die cuts, ribbon, washi, vellum, one (1) sticker only, etc). This will allow the deco to be mailed cheaply and have a greater ability to be traded in future swaps.

  • Art decos can have hand-painted or drawn elements but it is not a requirement. Compared to 'friendship books' or "sticker slapped decos".

Art decos are more high quality with a polished appearance.

  • Things to avoid: enamel dots, gems, buttons, wooden embellishments, chipboard cut-outs, etc., which will increase the cost of postage significantly.

  • If it's fairly flat and can fit in a normal envelope, its chances of getting full and being returned to you are much greater. Huge, bulky ones are much harder to move along.

Decos received in this swap may be moved in any other swap - a private swap or in any swap group - you do not need to wait for the next "round" of this swap, as it is not a round-robin type swap.

Will be assigning partners early as there is a lot of interest and no more watchers. The send by date will remain 3/22/2025.
