am in love with master boards...are you? In case you're unfamiliar with this satisfying art form, a master board is a large(ish) piece of base paper that is covered with smaller pieces (scraps!) of paper. You can make a "neutral" master board...book pages, sheet music, scrapbook papers in shades of cream, tan, and brown; you can also go big and bright, if that's your preference: pretty scrapbook paper pieces, inked, sprayed, gel printed, or otherwise embellished papers, and so on and on. For this series, let's use a 12-inch square piece of mid-to-heavyweight cardstock as the base, and glue our scraps over the top. After completing your basic master board, cut it into 3 4-inch strips vertically, and then cut each strip into 4 horizontal pieces, each 2.5 inches. You will have 12 little rolos, each 2.5x4 inches, with some of your master board left over for future swaps! For this particular swap, let's use one of our little master boarded rolos, and decorate it with a "theme" of your choice. And when you're finished, put your swap information on the back side. Please check the comments on the swap page, as some of our artists have a "ferris wheel" rolodex and prefer their cards to be right side UP (holes on the top) when the wheel is turned. For those of us who don't have a great way of storing our rolos (small and large) check out Margarete Miller's genius way of using a book or notebook with folded pages for this exact issue HERE. |
