Description:

Y'all... I kind of don't even like the term "friendship bracelet" because it sounds like something you do when you're 8 years old and at summer camp, right?

I love the actual thing, though. Meaning the super intricate patterns of knots that make up these bracelets or keychains or whatever you want. Though the intricacy is made up with 4 (four) kinds of knots and they're really like one or two knots, really, just in different directions!

I'm getting excited and already making this messy. Anyway, for this swap, make your partner a friendship bracelet! It can be whatever design you want, but try to keep in mind your partner's fave colors if they list them in their profile. Because that's fun.

If you don't know how to make these things, feel free to let me help you out. It's wayyy easier than you think, I promise. And there's a huge range of difficulties possible, so I could absolutely help you find a cool but simple pattern.

Speaking of which, to find patterns, I recommend Bracelet book. It has so many, you guys. And you can make your own patterns, ask for help in the forums, use the super handy search interface... yeah. It's great.

Tip: if you are new to this and using Bracelet Book, search for a "normal" type pattern to start and start with not very many strings, possibly 6 or so?

I apologize for how much this is meandering. Let's summarize. If you already know how to make friendship bracelets, just make your partner one (with colors they like, if possible). I won't require you to make them adjustable or a certain length, but I personally prefer adjustable. Here is a Youtube tutorial to show you how to do it.

If you don't know how to make these, there are tons of tutorials out there on Bracelet Book and elsewhere. I could help you directly and/or find you links, too!

Either way, make a bracelet to the best of your ability and ideally put it in a notecard or in some other way make an attempt to flatten the envelope so postal workers don't get mad at you. I think they should be under 1 oz, so I'll leave it open internationally.

Please ask if you have any questions and have fun!

Just to make it easy for my partner, my wrist is approx 7" and my favorite colors are mustard yellow/ochre, maroon, and teal. I also like black with neons or pastels!

Great idea! My wrist is about 7". Fave colors - actual rainbow, blues, teals, purples. I love bright colors and neons.

Yeah, thanks Lisa! I'll jump in, too: my wrist is about 6" and I'm all about blues/purples/greens and/or neutral blacks/grays/whites.

My wrist is 5.5 inches and Iโ€™m open to any colors.

I have a 6โ€ wrist but would prefer mine to fit very loose, please.

I prefer the cool color families: green, blue, purple, white, gray, black.

However, I donโ€™t want my partner to have to buy anything if they donโ€™t have those colors. If youโ€™d like to just make one with black or white, and one cool color that would be awesome too!

Thank you!

^^ I wanna add that I also don't want my partner to have to purchase anything and I'd be happy with any colors! I just have a big stash of embroidery floss so I can *probably" meet someone's likes, don't stress if you're not in the same boat

My wrist is about 7.5 inches, and I love all colors. Rainbows are my favorite.
