Secret Whispers swap #2

My grateful thanks, dear villagers,

As my sister Gwendolin made her plea last month for your aid in helping her cause to find suitable ways to get messages through the barricades, to allow our fellow British subjects, escape from France. Clever in subtle ways, when and if the times come to need them, we shall have your creative and witty camouflaged directives that our contacts across the Channel, have already passed on to the ladies in waiting of the French majesty where they are keeping them in trust.

There is great unrest abroad near my sisters Chateau in France. Sadly many of our fellow English lives are in great peril. We have had to resort to alternative ways to communicate across the waters. Many of you have your secret signs, do continue to use them. We were suitably impressed with your inventive, cunning and ingenious use of these symbols. This will indeed help us on the assisted moving of our countrymen. For those that did not participate but wish to this month coming, please entertain the idea of intrigue for a cause. and you will be forwarded the directions by her French majesties secretary of state, 3 symbols as well as a cypher.

Thus through our London connections passing on your efforts of secret whispers - more intrigue has been asked for, a great and desperate need to convey a series of messages that we pray might go unrecognized upon a courier or secreted within a lady's document folder, that will not attract attention due to its feminine appearance and of seeming unimportance.

We are most grateful to those that have joined our ranks and still looking for willing creatives to aid us in the making of and clever delivery of secret messages, perhaps to the apartments of the Golden Palace to her majesty Marie Antoinette herself! Are you prepared to embark upon a journey of intrigue? Are you willing to secretly create attractive concoctions of very commonplace objects, into clever manipulations of the mundane household/garden into artifacts of pleasant appeal?

The reward will be great satisfaction upon each episode of its completion.

This is an opportunity to use shimmery papers and washi tapes, printing techniques in unusual ways. Ever printed on tissue? Several of our secret whisperers have produced marvelous results! See on our group Georgettes Pinterest Board - Anna will give you the invitation. Practice the use of decorative script, exquisite stamps...coloured stamping inks...The more participants we have, the more intrigue we can concoct together...

When all the members that have signed up by the sign up date, are allotted their partner, I shall email each of you a series of instructions each personal and different to the others, that will continue (or if new - have you begin) making pages for a booklet of whispers. You will be keeping your little book "At Home" in your own library.

Then the intrigue continues....

If you are new to this series and wish to join in the intrigue, please join us! here is the first step is to do ......

Before we can embark on the making of the whispers book, we must first obtain the pages! So your first mission will be to seek suitable transparant papers that are 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, or simply drink tea to gather the tea bag papers. Not any old tea bag, but the folded paper teabags that are either stapled at the string, or stitched at the top like TWININGS or Lipton brands of tea bags that the paper can be carefully undone at the top, and emptied of the used contents via clean tap water, then opened out and dried, to reveal approx 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch transparent sheet. Others have used printed or plain tissue or rice paper and have great success with this.

So ...............enjoy your cuppa, if you want deeply stained pages, then leave the used teabag to sit for a day or two to dry out a bit and then empty them under the tap or in a bowl, imagine the colour of a red Hibiscus or fruit tea or turmeric tea. Once you have begun gathering your pages... set them aside & await your email at the close of the sign up date, you shall then have the next set of instructions. Your future tasks after each set of instructions will be to email your partner a portion of your current progress. And hide a secret message (I will provide several ways to do this) and that you must find a way to convey...in plain sight without being obvious. I envisage one swap a month until its finished. Each new swap in the series will have a particular theme to play with....
