Rose Tag with Folk Art Border

I marked this swap as Type 2, it will only be a flat envelope ladies, this way it keeps the sending costs down for us and we can still enjoy a piece of flat art from our partner.

MR LAUNCELOT PENN, was recently toying with the idea of writing to his sister who resides in France, also including a memento from his garden, she being a romantic and lover of roses. Whilst staring at the library floor cloth, it occurred to him, why not decorate the surrounds of the tag with a primitive pattern design. She would appreciate that. So he came up with a decorated book tag she might display in her journal at home. Due to the disturbances abroad, he felt to keep it flat for the ecurie to deliver safely.

THE SWAP:

For this swap we can finish creating our tag, before we are allotted partners, though please when writing to your partners character, address them by their characters name, rather than simply calling them "friend" to save time, that was not a Georgian society polite practice (unless you were a Scottish or New England Quaker and even then it was spoken to, not written.)

We will be using watercolour paper, watercolour paint or aqua-pencils, holepunch, ribbon.

Instructions are straight forward....

1. Cut a tag shaped piece of watercolour paper approx 3" x 4" or to your liking. Punch a hole in the top for ties. I made my tag This wide to accommodate the roses at centre.

2. With a medium mop type of paintbrush or equivalent, dip it in water fully, and swish a circular motion in two separate circles at the centre. If you manage to keep some paper free of water in the rose shape, that adds to the rose look, I did not quite manage that feat properly.

3. Now, while paper is wet, and with watercolour of your choice, take a smaller brush and work up a dense colour on the brush, load it fully and lush, and dip the tip into the wet circle. It will take to the water and run around the shape. Dip where you want the colour denser. Allow some to be light with no colour if you wish. Change the colours as you deem fit. I aimed for a pink of 3 hues, but you can stick to one colour only if you like. It is am impression of a swishy rose of no particular skill required. Have fun. Repeat with the other rose shape.

4. When the roses are dried properly. Select a border of Decorative Folk Art painting, New Hampshire Primitive Floor cloths or Antique embroidery trim or patterns to name a few ideas for sourcing a border pattern.

5. Draw/or then paint a border or copy cut and glue etc, your pretty border to enhance your tag for your partner.

6. Finish with a tie of complimentary tones. No glitter please.

   Pop your finished tag in an envelope inside a regency inspired letter about your garden from your character to your partners character.

To summarize = one tag with painted rose/s and border as desired. one letter to your partner sealed in flat envie. we are keeping it flat for postage sakes.
