Description:

This swap will give you the opportunity to share some of your favorite photographs. Any level photographer can participate as long as it's your own work.

Each participant will select five of their favorite photographs and create 10 note cards - two each of the five selected photos. To keep things consistent, I'm asking that all participants use 5"x7" Photo Mount Cards (not Photo Frame cards) to mount 4"x6" photos. I'm sure there are several companies that make these cards, but the ones I'm familiar with are by Strathmore and can be purchased at craft stores or on the Internet. A box of 10 can run anywhere from $5.00 to $8.00 depending upon where they are purchased. The Internet usually has them on sale, or you can use a 40% off coupon at craft stores like AC Moore. The cards by Strathmore also have an embossed edge so they will either make an elegant note card or the card can serve as a mat should you decide to frame one or more of them. Once the cards are complete, you can just put them back in the box they came in to protect them in the mail.

International swappers are encouaged to participate! This will add to the diversity of the cards, and it will be fun to see photos of different places.

Please keep photos to generic themes, such as nature/landscapes, animals, travel/place, people (street photography, not family members). Anyone with a rating under 2, please do not sign up for this swap or you will be banned.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Most important, have fun creating!

If we have 5 photos, but are making 10 cards, do we have 2 swap partners or are we just sending our partners 2 copies of each photo?

I thought it might be a good idea to send two of each photo to one swap partner. This way they have the option of using one as a note card and framing one if they like!

Just verifying thanks!

Thanks for joining . . . I think this will be fun! :o)

I just signed up for this swap and then realized that I don't yet have a rating. Will I be dropped? I understand the importance of rating (and think it is a great idea), but swap-bot is so new that very few people have any kind of rating at this time. I just mailed some ATC's so I should have a rating soon if my partner remembers to do it.

Thanks, Ramona

I love photos! Can't wait :)

Hi Ramona,

Thanks for joining! No, you won't be dropped.

The only reason I added the statement about the rating to the swap description was to discourage those who typically don't follow through from signing up. Having said that, however, I realize that there are times that life gets in the way of our art and I wouldn't ban someone without first communicating with them.

I don't have a rating either although I've completed two swaps . . . so I understand and agree with what you're saying.

Thanks again for participating in the swap!

Susan

Thanks for joining! I'm as excited about this one as you are! :o)

Has anyone been able to find the Strathmore Photo mount cards? I can't find them anywhere. Even online I only find packages of 50. I live in the Chicagoland area if anyone knows of a store that carries them I'd be grateful :)

Hi riario,

Just sent you an email! :o)

stonekeepers 07/13/2006 #

I just put my cards in the mail...hope they arrive safely. This swap gave me a little inspiration to print some of my mounds of photos and actually do something with them.

I got my cards in the mail nice and safe, great photographs :) Thank you!

Will be sending my batch out shortly...technical difficulties finding the proper mount cards! Apologies my swap partner...

riario, I received your cards today...they are really neat. That must have been a wonderful trip. Thanks for playing this game. I will leave good feedback when the system lets us.
